Yellow SNES

Well, I just bought a new SNES after my family (cousins) threw out theirs. I finally have the system to myself and I don't have to keep asking for a few months to borrow the thing and it sure was worth it. Well, anyway I was visiting my other cousins in Modesto and I played with their SNES and then I noticed that the system was turning yellow on the bottom. My cousins bought it in 1991 but why would it turn yellow? They cleaned it regularly and took good care of it but why would the system be like that? The plastic I guess but then again my family's NES is just as grey and black as ever. Someone please reply on how to help.

Re: Yellow SNES

I concur that cigarette smoke would stain the plastic.

Re: Yellow SNES

I was going to say the same thing although some other things such as the sun can yellow plastic.

White plastic will turn yellow way before gray and black plastic does.

I think some hobby stores sell "Plastic Polish" which can remove the yellow. A whitening toothpaste might do the trick. And a Brillo Pad (green kitchen sponge that feels a little bit like sand paper). Or you can dismantle the whole system and spray paint the plastic then put it back together.

Re: Yellow SNES

Smoke'll turn just about anything yellow. I think he plastic polish would be he easiest...but the spraypaint would be the coolest. Be creative with it, I'd love to see a pic of it when you're done.
