TV Show/Movie Based Games

Well its me again and I was just wondering about your thoughts on these kinds of games. I actually thought these games were good before being exposed to games like Duck Tales, Ninja Turtles, Toy Story, etc. These games were pretty good I guess except maybe for the latter but the newer kinds of games like Naruto: Clash of the Ninja or whatever completely suck. I mean talk about a crappy game, it has bad graphics, annoying voice acting, and its just a simple button masher. Games like Duck Tales actually had some redeeming qualities to them, maybe because it was created by Capcom the creators of Mega Man and Street Fighter. Tv show based games were okay before but they have been steadily declining in quality just like the videogame industry has fell into decline. I think it all went down after the SNES but that's just my opinion.

Re: TV Show/Movie Based Games

Die Hard Arcade was sweet ;D.

But, yes, most movie or t.v. show based games suck. Though The Godfather was also a good game. I was looking forward to Reservoir Dogs myself, but I heard it sucked. The game that is, not the movie. The movie rocks your face off.

Re: TV Show/Movie Based Games

Yeah, Godfather was a pretty good game and Die Hard Arcade was cool. You should play the Die Hard NES game, there is a video from a guy called the Angry Video Game Nerd who reviews really bad classic games like MC Kids, Back to the Future, Rocky, etc. You should watch this guy he's hillarious. Speaking of bad movie games, Back to the Future sucked bad. You go through these annoying walking stages and play bad mini games in between and then more walking stages. They had four years to make the game because the movie came in '85 the game '89 so how come the game is so bad, and you know what's worse? They made a sequel!

Re: TV Show/Movie Based Games

Chip & Dale Rescue Ranger 1 & 2 are good too. The older TV to game conversions were much better than the new ones. Even 7-Up's SPot and Pizza Hut's Yo! Noid were better than moder TV conversions. Now they are too rushed and count on the free advertising from the movie to carry them through.

Re: TV Show/Movie Based Games

Exactly my point, the game industry is no where near how much fun it was when I was growing up in the 90's. Its weird to hear other kids tell me that they are proud to say that they are growing up with the X-box and that they feel sorry for me that my parents didn't let me get some of the newer systems and that I grew up during the 16-bit era. I feel sorry for them because I'm proud to say that I was able to grow up with the NES, SMS, Genesis, and SNES. People today are so graphics obsesssed and I asked one of my friends which would he rather have, A really fun game like Mario 3 that has primitive graphics by today's standards or A really crappy game with the best graphics in the world and he chose the crappy game. Today's people don't know what good games are. Us here at retrouprising are pretty lucky to have grown up in the 80's and 90's because we had everything, we had great Saturday Morining Cartoons (I had The Ren and Stimpy Show, people today have things like Loonatis), the greatest games in the history of the world (Mario and Sonic, today Halo) man was I lucky.

Re: TV Show/Movie Based Games

I agree about the poor quality modern games(for the most part). BUT, you have to understand our perspective is clouded by our impressions growing up with the older games. If you really think about it there was ALOT of crappy games back then too, it's the same today. You just have to weed out the good from the bad.

Personally I am thankful I was lucky enough to be introduced to NES genesis ect at a young age. But, if I had the choice I probably would choose to grow up in present day just for the simple fact that now days people can log online and play together. I consider myself a videogame addict and online gaming has always been my dream(before I knew about the internet even, except then it was really just a dream). At the moment online gaming is just starting to take off IMO and I predict it will only get cooler.

BUT, back on topic about TV/movie based games
Ducktales and others like it were fun and worth playing, I haven't heard of a single good TV/movie game since SNES or before that.

Re: TV Show/Movie Based Games

Yeah, I have the Nintendo Wii and its a pretty good system. Internet is probably the best addition to any site and wi-fi is the ultimate multiplayer experience in my opinion. I guess I would go with the newer systems to if my parents never kept their old stuff just because the newer stuff has all this stuff in it like internet and wi-fi.

I think Legend of zelda was an animated series years ago, so shouldn't that count, too?

Re: TV Show/Movie Based Games

No, because the show was based on the game, not vice versa. There was also a Mario cartoon and a Sonic cartoon. Today we have a lot of movies being made based off of video games too, such as Silent Hill and Halo. But I think that when the series or movie is made after the game, then IT sucks. So typically the gamed based off the movie or tv show AND the tv show or movie based off the video game tend to end up sucking.

Re: TV Show/Movie Based Games

I Loved both the Mario and Sonic cartoons, so beautifly cheesy. Jaleel "Urkel" White as the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog and Captain Lou Albano, a professional wrestler as Mario. Genius casting. The Legend of Zelda cartoon wasn't as enjoyable but it was okay because of its chessiness. Well, excuuuuse me Princess. Oh yeah, Trak Masta Tom. What if Pauly Shore was the voice of Link or Sonic, then they would be even more cheesy! I figured we could wieze a little ju-uuuuice. Aaaaow! Buddy.

Re: TV Show/Movie Based Games

Back to the future was a horrible game, I used to have the high score until I think some farmed it away from me.
TMNT was ok, bad idea making all the turtles but Don suck, ok lets make Don have a long powerful weapon, that also hits guys from behind, and we'll make Ralph have no redeeming qualities. Plus the game had almost no enemies from the TV show, or I assume the comic. It was all weird robots, and and then alien looking guys, the foot clan didn't even look right.

7-Up was a cool game, and I thought Yo Noid was a port from Japan?

TMNT, the first game for the NES or TMNT II The Arcade Game because TMNT II rocked. Arcade action. Oh yeah and speaking of TMNT have you seen the Angry Video Game Nerd review the game, its hillarious. Not advertising for him but he did review the game and it was pretty funny.

I don't like TMNT 1. It's kinda crappy. But as most people on this forum probably know, TMNT 2 is one of if not my all time favorite game, and certainly my favorite NES game.

Nope you're wrong, I know Culex. I've never known him to cheat(farming points is cheating to me). Sadly I think he actually likes that game. I've played it, it's a steaming pile.

And what's with all the TMNT 1 hate? I used to play that game alot. It is hard but it's really not that bad for an old game. Besides the point about the other turtles not being as good as Don. Leo was alright but the other two were so worthless it was painful to play them.
But about the lack of enemies from the show/comic in the first level it does have Be bop and rock steady.
At least after the first game they did pretty well with the others.

If not farmed then he died and replayed a lot of levels, I finished the game without dying and that was my high score, the high score now is in a street level, so yeah. Anyway it does not matter I have not had enough time to go out and retake and defend any of my titles, and he can have that one.

all i can say about these games are that they went bad after the SNES. The graphics arent as good as the systems graphics are supposed to look, and the gameplay isnt good.
