Wiimote in Mame

I am trying to use Wiimote as light gun in Mame. I have a Mayflash sensor bar set on Mode 1, and turned on mouse toggle in Mame, but it seems Mame still only recognizes the physical mouse. Does anyone have answer in how to get this functioning?

No, I have found that it only seems to work for SNES at this point. In Mame the mouse cursor moves around as it should, but no moving target. I have tried in mode 1and 2. I am not really tech savvy so I am doing more research, but don't really know what my options are, except to buy an expensive Aimtrack for a handful of games that I want to play.

Well just keep trouble shooting, it definitely works for most people. 1 guy in that thread mentioned he only had success with older versions of mame... maybe that might be an issue. Good luck.

Re: Wiimote in Mame

Make sure you are getting a regular muse to work before trying the wiimote. For mouse you need to press Left Shift + F5.

Mouse works terrific. It seems that my normal mouse is staying in player one and Wiimote is player two, but is not showing the target only mouse arrow. There is a mode on the Mayflash that allows for keyboard mouse control, which from what I have read worked in Mame. However, from other things I see it only works in older versions of Mame that have direct input. So unless I download an older version of Mame and get ROMS (don't want to do for the obvious legal issues). It seems I am out of luck for the moment. Glove Pie, from what I understand, has its own set of issues.

That helped.

First try this.
1. Launch a light gun game such as Zombie Raid.
2. Press Left Shift + F5 to enable mouse support.
3. Press tab.
4. Select "Input (general)" then "Player 1 Controls" or "Input (this game)".
5. Scroll down to "Lightgun X Analog". Press Enter.
6. Move the Wiimote left or right. Careful not to move up or down.
7. Set "Lightgun Y Analog" the same way except move Wiimote up or down.
8. Test the game.
9. Report results back here.

Direct Input is removed from score mode because it would allow tool assisted cheating. If the above doesn't work I can give you instructions to use Direct Input in Full Mode, but I think the above will work.

No go...I tried in both score mode and in Full Mode. Same deal. Recognizes mouse but not wiimote as mouse. I unplugged mouse and still nothing. Also, tried with Player 1 and Player 2. Then I tried all combinations with Mayflash set on Keyboard mouse (mode 1) and on keyboard/mouse gaming (mode 2).

Re: Wiimote in Mame

Sounds like Direct Input is required and it can not be used here.

You are on a desktop computer? Try setting up the wiimote, remove your regular mouse, reboot then the instructions above. Hopefully then the wiimote will be the main mouse.

If that doesn't work then the final option is trying these instructions but they are slightly out of date and you will be mostly on your own.
How to use your Wii Remote and its accessories as gamepads

I made a change. Try this.

Try the wiimote after step 2. It might work then. If not continue with other steps.
