What button is pause for Sega Game Gear games?

I apologise if this is something obvious or is written down somewhere, but which button do I press (when using RU's ArcadeOX) to pause on Game Gear games? This is to emulate the pause button on the console. I tried to find the answer on the net but can't, it's driving me crazy! Or am I confused and am thinking about the wrong console??

NB I want to pause as it changes the speed in Dragon Crystal, and I think some other games you need to pause to see the score.

I believe it's the P button on your keyboard.

Re: What button is pause for Sega Game Gear games?

you can hit the TAB key to get a pop-up menu where you then can select using cursor keys and enter to get to where it shows what all the key assignments do. you can alter the key assignments to whatever you want. I would do that then restart/reset the game after brief testing. it will save those preferences for that specific console for future use.

I believe the above is correct as "p" is pause for mame/mess by default. however, also note that when using the score mode I am not sure if pause is deactivated or not. A simple test would confirm if that is true or not...if using full mode then "p" for pause definitely should work.

P is the pause button in score mode as well. However, the only rule is don't pause in games where that would give you an advantage like finding the answer or time to plan piece placement.(puzzle games, trivia, etc)

Re: What button is pause for Sega Game Gear games?

If you mean to pause emulation then yes P would be correct.

But if you mean the actual Start button on a console, (Which I think you do) I believe it is ENTER by default, but that can be changed to something else using the technique Permafrostrick mentioned.

Re: What button is pause for Sega Game Gear games?

Elrod is correct. P pauses the emulation but you want the "Start" button which is ENTER.

Press TAB to access the menu to reconfigure or see what all of the keys are.
