Dipswitch settings and romsets for certain coin-ops

Wow, I keep forgeting all these things I want to ask...

I noticed that certain console games such as Goldeneye have support for multiple regional versions. Certain versions of arcade games have much bigger differences than simple timing, and one of these versions may end up being the most frequently played. Similarly, there are certain dipswitch settings that are more or less unanimously used by players, and even places like MARP (for the record, I feel like this site is a sort of MARP evolution in a sense). Some big examples that come to mind:

-Battle Garegga. The set currently used by RU is the one people play, but there's a dipswitch setting (well, on a real board, it's probably one of those "jumpers", but) that allows one to pick the different regions available on it. Each of these settings affects game difficulty in subtle ways, and since this is a game that's really only known in Japan, most people use the Japan setting in order to avoid confusion and stay on a level playing field.

-Most of the various Konami beat-em-ups. These games are notorious for having near-to-impossible "world" or "US" versions, while the "Japan" (and "Asia"?) versions are relatively fair in comparison. Again, players I've seen typically find the other versions to be unreasonable and unfun to play.

-Games with "alternate" rereleases, such as the Darius games and various fighting game updates that are treated as clones (a big example: Breakers and Breakers Revenge... though I do note that game is currently not in RU). These shouldn't need much explanation, should they? Surely it could be done like Goldeneye where they load separately.

How would these situations all be handled? I wish this was more clear, I just can't seem to type well...

Re: Dipswitch settings and romsets for certain coin-ops

Hi! So I can change dipswitches in Full Mode and they'll still carry over to Score Mode? That seems kinda sketchy, though...

no you can only change them in full mode, in score mode they are locked to the default dips you see in full

Re: Dipswitch settings and romsets for certain coin-ops

Right. What I'm wondering is whether a change of certain dipswitches for Score Mode would be better for those games, whether some alternate versions of games should be supported much like they are for certain consoles, and the ruling on certain codes and dipswitches that activate alternate modes in games.

Two really great examples that just come to mind:

-Robotron. People who despise TG are convinced that the "tournament rules" of hardest difficulty and five lives only improves competitive play.

-Armed Police Batrider. It has a series of codes that can also be turned on with dipswitches, which provide: more characters (and extra bosses at certain points if those characters are used), a boss rush mode, and a stage edit that most people use because it allows for higher scores (the cloud stage has less medals than the others, so it's played first to build medal values).
