The blinding light of Firefox

I have a really difficult time looking at a white screen, and for years now have been using the 'High Contrast' display option.
Yesterday, Firefox updated itself {without asking} and 'POOF' - my high contrast display has been disabled. {when online}

I've tried going into the 'Display Options', resetting the 'High Contrast', clicking 'Apply' and 'Ok', and after all that have reset the computer and still I have the white screen.

I know not many besides me use 'High Contrast', so probably wouldn't notice, but have I overlooked something?
Are all web pages displayed this way on FF now?

Have you tried messing with your monitors brightness and contrast settings?

Sorry to take so long to get back to you; I originally hoped it was something simple like this but the problem only started as soon as FF updated itself.
Further confirming my suspicion that this sudden lack of HC compatibility has solely to do with FF is how IE still has the HC as always.

Thanks for the links but the way this old comp is now I'm not eager to change any files around; I did it before and it didn't end well.

However this shows what an oddball I am around here; I figured at least a couple of other people would be using High Contrast display settings but I guess not since no one else has said anything so far.
