Controller help!!!

Hey guys - thanks for an amazing site & all these lovely games to bring back the joys of my childhood!

I've been getting right back into Super metroid for the SNES - Loved that game when I was younger & decided to go out & get me a USB contoller to make it feel more like playing on a snes. However I just can't get it to work =/

I've read some past threads on here & done as people have suggested - I've tried different usb ports, I've tried reloading the game, I've plugged in before the game loads & also when the game has loaded.
I've been to my control panel > Device manager & found the contoller but there is no way to test the pad (WIndows 7) so I can't rule out at the moment that it's a broken pad =/
Windows assures me tho that my "device is installed & working correctly"

I've tried to configure the pad in the games window - I'm using the ArcadeOX full mode - by disabling & re-enabling the pad. But yeah still quite lost

Any futher help will be hugely appreciated!

Re: Controller help!!!

I got a feeling I know which one it is. I think it's a power supply issue. Can you post the model number or something ? It also could be device driver signing. Even though it "says" it's working it might not actually be fulfilling it's main function. Just a reminder, the controller probably works in a linux distro right out of the box maybe if I gloat enough maybe I can get some RU people at least a bit interested GNU/Linux distros.

Re: Controller help!!!

Speaking of controls,...
I was wondering if anyone knows how to stop the aim rotating evertime you press fire on the game "Midnight resistance" (Arcade)?.
I remember the actualy joystick from the arcade machine had a special rotation motion which you could turn and shoot in the desired direction, but as i play this on keyboard i cant seem to stop it rotating around constantly, which makes the game impossible to play properly.

I do intend on purchasing a PC controller/joystick in the near future which may resolve this problem, but until then is it possible to do it on keys?.
Any help with this is greatly appreciated

Regards
Lanny
