Also not Tekka here but I'll chime in too. Hobbes is correct. But if you don't have WIFi via wireless router, but you do have a highspeed modem (cable or DSL) I believe you can use a USB cord to hard wire connect your Wii to the modem. There're a couple of USB ports in the back of the Wii.
Alternatively, if you do have WiFi, and it just doesn't seem to be connecting, check this post from earlier in the thead:
Wii Connection Troubleshoot. It's what I had to do to get up and running.
