You can challenge someone for a 1 on 1 contest by clicking their name and on their profile click Challenge then select the game you want to play.
Anyone that has at least 1 high score will have a trophy next to their name.
If you want to see how many trophies they have (total high scores) check out their profile. They are listed there.
