Is there an option here to not see videos embedded, but rather see a link to the page from which they originate?

I ask because my computer is old and slow, and thus has problems loading multiple embedded videos that are on one page.

If there isn't an option on site, is there an option of the nature in firefox?

When you are replying to a post, on the left side of your screen, there are options. One of them is "Automatically embed media (requires blah blah blah)". Uncheck this, and videos will not be embedded when you post.

As for not seeing things that other people post, I don't see anyway to disable videos specifically. In your profile, in the "Edit Options" window, scroll down to "Visible Post elements", and uncheck the boxes. You will still see embedded videos but it might help by disabling other things.

Thanks for the help, it appears I can choose not to show images, avatars and signatures, but not videos.
