Watch Us Recreate the Nintendo World Championships this Friday on Lunch Break!

The cart on your right may seem innocuous, but it served as the lifeblood of the 1990 Nintendo World Championships, a nationwide tournament established to find the greatest Nintendo players of the continental United States (and to earn the company some killer publicity). Kids brave enough to take on the challenge would have to play through three modified versions of popular Nintendo hits Super Mario Bros., Rad Racer, and Tetris, and have their scores pitted against other competitors in a battle that mainly relied on who had the most inattentive parents.

That said, seeing as how we're in the middle of Mario-themed week of content and about to drop a fresh podcast about The Wizard into your lap, what better time than now to break out our faithful reproduction of the World Championships and pit 1UP and IGN editors against each other via digital bloodsport for your entertainment?

If that scenario sounds enticing, hit up the Retronauts Lunch Break page this Friday (and every Friday, mind you) at 12:00pm PST to join in on the fun (and place bets on your favorite editor, where legal). Also, make sure you're reaching out to us via the Retronauts Twitter page while you do -- as always, we'll be reading your questions and comments live. See you then!
