Retronauts Live Episode 33: Simpsons Games

More research went into this episode of Retronauts than ever before -- though, to be fair, I had three years to prepare as opposed to my usual few hours before we record. You see, back in 2009, I did not hold the coveted position of "features guy" here at 1UP; in those days, I served as a humble contributor and blogger, subsisting mainly on the few bones thrown to me by various publications. And often they would send money instead of bones. Point is, the following series of articles will assist you in this week's exploration of Simpsons games conducted by me, Scott Sharkey, IGN's Sam Claiborn, and our own Marty Sliva. But first, here's a handy download link to the episode in question:

Download Episode 33 of Retronauts Live here!If you'd like to follow along at home, we mostly stick to the structure I established in my old blog posts. But don't expect a chime to inform you of the preferred time to turn the page -- such technical wizardry is best reserved for the likes of Hollywood phonies. We keep it real here on Retronauts.

The Simpsons Retro Revival Retrospective:

Retro Revival Retrospective: The Simpsons Part 1: Bart Vs. the Space Mutants
Retro Revival Retrospective: The Simpsons Part 2: The Arcade Game
Retro Revival Retrospective: The Simpsons Part 3: The Simpsons' Game Boy Games
Retro Revival Retrospective: The Simpsons Part 4: Bart Simpson's House of Weirdness
Retro Revival Retrospective: The Simpsons Part 5: Krusty's Super Fun House
Retro Revival Retrospective: The Simpsons Part 6: Bart Vs. The World and Bartman Meets Radioactive Man
Retro Revival Retrospective: The Simpsons Part 7: Bart's Nightmare
Retro Revival Retrospective: The Simpsons Part 8: Virtual Bart
Retro Revival Retrospective: The Simpsons Part 9: The Remaining Pre 32-Bit Era Games
Retro Revival Retrospective: The Simpsons Part 10: Virtual Springfield
Retro Revival Retrospective: The Simpsons Part 11: Simpsons Sports Games
Retro Revival Retrospective: The Simpsons Part 12: Road Rage
Retro Revival Retrospective: The Simpsons Part 13: Hit and Run
Retro Revival Retrospective: The Simpsons Part 14: The Simpsons Game
Retro Revival Retrospective: The Simpsons Part 15: The Madness Ends

And here's the first video of azuritereaction's playthrough of Bart's House of Weirdness. Based on what I've read about other licensed products, the PC seems to have pulled the shortest straw possible. Sure, The Simpsons had many-a terrible console game, but at least they didn't exhibit the unbridled malice shown by House of Weirdness. WARNING: these videos get a little swear-y, but for a good reason. Don't play these within earshot of any sensitive grandmas.

Real-life news stories mentioned in this week's episode (just so you know we're not hopped up on goofballs):

Simpsons parody upset Fox News, says Groening
Harry Shearer's Voice Missing from Universal Studios' The Simpsons Ride
Simpsons Game Parodies Ruffle Some Feathers
