Hey, it's another live episode of Retronauts! And this one is about a secret shame that stole away most of my teenage years and a good portion of my 20s: Japanese RPGs. While I've since had an intervention and now only use JRPGs responsibly, my knowledge of the genre is so thorough that it'd be a shame to
not put it on display -- at least for the sake of generating some good out of so many wasted years. Luckily, I had two wonderful guests who shared in my sickness equally: former 1UP community gal Janine Dong, and IGN's Meghan Sullivan. All in all, a good show; though I apologize in advance for technical difficulties causing Janine to be less audible than the rest of us. Be thankful that our half-soundproofed podcast room provided plenty of bare walls for her voice to bounce off of, and into a microphone that had actually been turned on.

Wild Arms 4 and
5, two b-list RPGs with really great soundtracks -- though I only enjoyed playing the former. And the outro song comes from Yuji Kajiura's amazing
Xenosaga Episode II soundtrack; I may not care for that particular series, but it sure made some pretty music -- if you're interested, I highlighted some of her more notable tracks on
this old 1UP blog post from 2009.
Next week, we're sticking to the same topic, but in a traditional, non-call-in format.
