Odd News & Tabloid Tales

I noticed there are many threads geared toward specific topics, but felt the need to create one especially for the odd stories of interest but little or no consequence.
The 'tabloid' type things we hear about, if you take my meaning.

If it's strange or unusual yet interesting, but not too important, this is the thread for it.

To kick this off, I read that the child star from Flight Of The Navigator has been arrested for holding up a bank here in British Columbia, Canada:

Child Star From Flight Of The Navigator Arrested After Bank Robbery

A while back someone made a comment about 'Disney kids' and said something about them being bad news.
It seems that there's something to that notion and this is just one more addition to a list of failures and sorrowful misadventures which started in the 'Magic Kingdom'.
Now to be fair, this guy was a child star and so far as I know it was the only movie he starred in, but also appeared in lesser roles in Runaway and Stone Fox, so it isn't like he's had a great career in movies and the money earned doing them to fall back on.
{by the way, that's no excuse to rob banks}

Also, just like most other companies, Disney cannot be 'held responsible' for the actions of its employees .. yet there seem to be lots of people who started out there who later suffered downfalls -

^ Her eyes look like she's really unhappy.
Brittany is probably best known for having an episode where she shaved her head and 'went nuts'.
I think she also suffered addiction.

^ More sad eyes.
Lindsay is known for drug and alcohol addiction.
These are just 2 of the well - known 'Disney kids' = is there a pattern to this?

Re: Odd News & Tabloid Tales

I don't think it's Disney exclusively. (I was the one who said it in an earlier thread)

I think it's more just a child star thing. I think the absolute best example would be Micheal Jackson. When your child world is completely bypassed and you are thrust immediately into an adult world, it seems to have some very detrimental effects. Micheal Jackson spent his adult life trying to recapture his lost youth, and the pressure of constantly trying to write music, perform, or do whatever else... the guy had an entire life of not being able to catch his breath, and it literally killed him.

For the record, I think he was a good soul and is 100% innocent of the accusations against him. Just a poor guy who never had a second to get a grip on things.

On topic: Donald Trump is going to be the president of the US, that seems pretty tabloid.

I often forget that MJ started singing and dancing when he was very young.
As for what happened to him, I watched an interview with Janet Jackson and she said she thinks he was a victim of foul play, and when asked by the interviewer who she thought was responsible, after a very long pause she said:

'There are a lot of them.'

I think his later song 'All I Want To Say Is That They Don't Really Care About Us' and the message it contains may have something to do with it, if his sister is right.

Yes I imagine child stars do suffer a kind of lost innocence and childhood experiences most of us get to enjoy .. which gets me to thinking the singers from BABYMETAL may be going though something similar; still I enjoy their kawaii - ness and the Kami Band wouldn't be the same without them.

From what I can tell, being an 'Idol' is the dream of many young girls {possibly some boys too} and I imagine that they may be having the time of their lives; in any event it must be some experience indeed~!
