Licensed Games That Changed in Translation

As we've heard time and time again from gamers and the press, licensed games suck. It's practically a fact of life: they're cheap cash-ins that rely on brand recognition to sell. If a game is based on a movie, TV, or comic book franchise, it's going to be terrible. However, imagine if a licensed game couldn't rely on their famous movie and TV cousins. What if these games based on outside intellectual property had that taken away from them. Would people still deride them?

Videogame history is actually filled with situations like this, where games based on other media in Japan had their licences stripped from them when they left the country. A game based on one of the most popular manga series of the early '90s became a lame Street Fighter knock-off. Jackie Chan made his American debut in a game, and people had no idea. Roger Rabbit was turned into Bugs Bunny, and one of the most beloved games of all time, Super Mario Bros. 2, was actually a promotional game that Nintendo made in conjunction with a Japanese TV network.
