Leave Your Thoughts About The Wizard for the Next Episode of Retronauts!

Bad news: no Retronauts Lunch Break this week. But here's some good news: I'll be busy at the Classic Gaming Expo, delivering retro-related content to you Retronauts readers. Oh, and even better news: our next episode of Retronauts Movie Month will feature 1989's The Wizard, a film you folks requested loudly and often during our last set of Movie Month selections.

If you need proof of how much Nintendo ruled kids' lives back in the mid-to-late '80s, look no further than this little film, which largely centers itself around my generation's fevered mania for the NES. Oh yeah, there's also some stuff in there about family and believing and yourself and some junk, but that can safely be ignored thanks to the looming shadow of SUPER FRICKING MARIO BROS. 3 FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, which made its American debut in The Wizard -- no doubt to the delight of millions of screaming children, who left their suffering parents catatonic with confusion.

Did The Wizard hit you at the height of Nintendo's world conquest? Did it make you believe certain fundamentally broken peripherals were "bad," meaning "good?" We'd like to hear from you! Leave your thoughts about the film in the comments section below, and we'll do our best to respond to them during the episode -- but make sure you post them by Tuesday, August 13 at 12:00pm PST. See you then, and be sure to check out the trailer below if you need a brief refresher. And if you want to play along at home, you can find The Wizard streaming on YouTube, but be warned that watching this version will add nothing to the Savage Millions.
