My new challenge. Each day I'll play for 15 minutes, trying to get the The End as fast as possible. I'm playing hardcore so if I die it's all over. After each day I'll post what I did and a screenshot of my inventory. I don't plan on making chests or a home base since that's for sissies.

World Seed: Race for The End I
Version: 12w06a

-Spawned in a forest biome. Spent the first five minutes punching wood. Luckily there were a few sheep and a ton of chickens around. I fashioned two wooden swords and went to slaughter. Three sheep, a dozen chickens, and five minutes later it was time to search for a cave. Found one bordering the snow and jungle biome (still haven't seen an ocelot). Collected some stone for a furnace, and some pick and sword upgrades while my chickens cooked. Slept and the next morning explored the cave a little finding 16 coal and 7 iron.

-Tomorrow's checklist: Lots more iron, hopefully some more food too!

Feel free to race me if you wish in your own worlds. Remember, only 15 minutes a day! :P

Been thinking about what I want to accomplish tonight while at work. I have two main goals; first to collect at least 53 iron (I have 7 already) and if I complete that to build a Nether Portal using lava and water. This will hopefully all be completed while spelunking.

Things I will also be looking for:
-More coal (don't need too much though)
-Diamonds (between 2-7)
-Gravel and flint
-Bones
-Mushrooms

The major challenge of this episode will be spelunking with no armor and just stone swords while not using any arrows. I have food and coal for torches but I wont waste time smelting my iron until I find some water source blocks.

Race for The End Challenge I: Episode 2

Spent the entire time spelunking. Not very happy with the amount of iron I got in 15 minutes.

I mined 16 iron ore for a total of 23. I smelted 8 and turned 6 into buckets. I grabbed one water source block and am very close to getting my second.

I encountered quite a few more mobs than I was hoping for. In total I fought 6 zombies, 2 skeletons, 2 creepers, and a spider.

On the plus side I did acquire 4 flint from breaking gravel, and 2 bones and 2 arrows from fighting skellies.

My health dropped under 3 hearts twice, mostly from those two damn skeletons. The cave system is a lot more open than I would like it to be and the new mob A.I. is making things more difficult. I also noticed that I'm already at "gold level" so just a little further down should grant me the lava and possibly diamonds I want.

Episode 3:

Took V-Day off obviously.

Grabbed that second water source and explored a wide open section of the cave. One end led to a lava pool, the other to a spider dungeon.

I dropped my furnace and let it do its work as I cheated the dungeon by only opening holes close enough to reach in the chests, finding two more buckets, some bread, string and a few useless things.

Built myself a frame and built myself a nether portal. Still waiting for some more iron to smelt so I can have some armor and swords when I go blaze hunting.

Nether access in 42 minutes.

I'm kind of at a crossroads right now. The Nether will be hell without a bow and arrows but I need to save them for The End.

I don't know if I should just just try to grind out the 8 blaze rods I need or aim for brewing fire pots. Of course that means and extra blaze rod, and me finding nether wart and magma cream.

I'd love to find at least one brown and red mushroom also.

I guess it all depends on what the Nether decides to hand me.

I don't know if you're serious but I'll explain anyways. They added Strongholds which contain a portal to the zone called The End. In there you fight an EnderDragon and upon beating it you get to see this awesome credit crawl, if you got a few minutes read it I think you'll like it as much as I did -

After that you start back in the world. I haven't actually done it so I'm not sure if you keep everything you had on you or not.

I had to stop in the middle of a blaze fight because someone was at the door.

Lucky Nether spawn, about 100 blocks from a fortress. Had to netherack bridge over lava with ghasts shooting at me to get to it. Found some nether wart and I'm tempted to use it but I don't have any glass to make bottles.

I killed 3 blazes thus far by running to the spawner, killing one and then running and hiding like a little girl. Got one blaze rod for my effort thus far. It at least gives me the option to make some speed potions later on. Also I found one of each mushroom in the nether.

That's a really cool ending. I legitimately thought it was just and endless, plotless game with no real goal, I guess they changed that.

I'm going to try again though and I've learned from my mistakes. This time I'll craft 3 bottles and fill the with water prior to going into the Nether.

I did get up to 5 blaze rods before croaking though.

I started a hardcore biospheres game yesterday. Made it to day 2, then found a lake in a bioshpere. I saw a hole in the lake and checked it out to see, turns out the biospheres had gotten so low that, that was the void... Dumb way to die lol.

Basically just making a hardcore game where I keep moving every day and see how far I get. Might make a thread but idk.

I started an extreme terrain generator hardcore mode also, it generates more random land than what alpha did... maybe lol. Made it through 2 days.

3) You may craft the Iron, Gold, and Diamond blocks.
4) Use at least Easy difficulty, and never Peaceful.
5) Do not leave the boundaries of the map and go into normally generated Minecraft terrain.
6) Survive in any way you can think of. (Yes, you can mine, craft, and place blocks.)
7) You may use spider string wool and sheep wool to craft beds and other items, but not for the Victory Monument.

I hate you, die in a fire.

For the most part, Super Hostile is like playing Minecraft normally, but it's more difficult and you have a long-term goal to work towards. Also you may find yourself in some unusual terrain. Oh, and the map is designed to kill you, so keep that in mind.

Legendary is his hardest one to date. I stopped counting after 60.

Of his maps I've played Legendary, Canopy Carnage, and I'm currently playing Spellbound Caves. We should wait until his next release as all of his older releases before Spellbound are for pre 1.8.

If you're really craving for a challenge map I can stop Spellbound as I've only found 3 wool thus far.
