An Idea for 2015 Retrochamp contest

OK, I noticed something. All the top scores for all these contest were done this year, and most of the time the top score before this year isn't even in the top 3. So here is an idea. Next year when you have this contest how about putting up games where the scores on those games are considered extremely hard to beat?

Also not all extremely hard to beat score are on popular games. I think a good reason for doing this is because it would not only give an appreciation to some lessor known games, but an appreciation for some lessor known scores that should be respected more for their difficulty.

I think that's just it, George. The lesser known games do not have outrageous scores on RU, generally. I am all for that. Please dont make me play popular games like: pacman or frogger if it comes to popular selections. While those scores are impressive i'd rather burn my eyes with hot sem...iron than to play them for score. Just not my style.

I think there is a decent amount of "lesser" known games this year. Cosmo gang isn't very well-known. At the time the record for RU was 6m and if barra hadn't gone 1m bonus point happy, that would still be a pretty tough score to beat for many.

I never heard of Arkrista Ring. Even though it is being modeled on a speedrun platform.

Is the million random in that game, btw? I've gotten it when I've felt I shouldn't, and not gotten it plenty of times where I felt like I should've.

Well fortunately the site has the best scores thing, and it can show scores that have been here the longest. For instance the Gradius 3 score of 674,760 seems to be a pretty tough score to beat when compared to the other scores, and has been around since 2009 as an example.

I believe it has to do with getting the enemies into out and keeping them near the top before time expires. I generally hit 1m but do see 500k on the first bonus stage when I get a little lazy.

I am not entirely sure if this is how it works but I am almost certain It has to do with how high all the enemies are when the timer ends.

Once you get used to it it is easy to do every time. That 1mil bonus accounts for about 30% of my score

I've gotten 500k and not missed a single shot, that's why I asked. I think the real answer is closer to what TIF mentioned, the ending height of the enemies, but I haven't tested enough to be sure.

it doesn't matter if you miss a shot i think you need at least 20 or more hits and them not to touch the energy I tested it when i played this game in the knockout contest last year
