Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - November 2012

Clear Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past Super Nintendo for 36 Game Club points.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is a 2D action-adventure video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System video game console. It is the third installment in The Legend of Zelda series and was released in 1991 in Japan and 1992 in North America and Europe. Shigeru Miyamoto and his team were solely responsible for this game's development.

The plot of A Link to the Past focuses on Link as he travels on a journey to save Hyrule, defeat Ganon and rescue the seven descendants of the Sages. A Link to the Past uses a 3/4 top-down perspective similar to that of the original The Legend of Zelda, dropping the side scrolling elements of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. A Link to the Past introduced elements to the series that are still commonplace today, such as multi-level dungeons, new weapons and items as well as the Master Sword and the concept of an alternate or parallel world.

Released to critical and commercial success A Link to the Past was a landmark title for Nintendo and is widely considered today to be one of the greatest video games of all time. A Link to the Past has sold over 4 million units world wide and has been ported to both the Game Boy Advance (with slight changes) and the Wii's Virtual Console. Both ports were very popular and contributed to the overall success of the game.

I started playing this through a while ago using save state due to its length - would I still qualify?

By save state I hope you mean the actual save feature and not AOX Full mode save states.

Thanks for the replies.

I don't know the difference, but if someone could explain that would be great.

I started playing and then would save in slot 1. Sorry if that doesn't explain

I didn't even notice this was in the club until today! I'm not too fussed about the competition (I'm a casual sort of gamer!) but thought I'd ask

Re: Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - November 2012

This was only posted yesterday so don't feel bad about not noticing it.

When you go to play the game you can choose Full Mode. If you are picking Full mode you cannot submit scores or submit a game to be considered cleared. Full allows you to have save states anywhere in the game. Score mode restricts extra features like that so the playing field is fair and even. To save the game in score mode you have to use the built in save if the game has one.

Re: Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - November 2012

If you are in Score Mode you are good.

"Save States" are not possible in Score Mode.

However in score mode you can use SRAM which is also called, in-game saves, battery saves, save ram, cart saves. It is the same type of save you would have had on the original system back in the 90's.

Most people call both save styles "Save States" but when they do, they are wrong.

Re: Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - November 2012

I've always wondered, how does that work? I know you enable SRAM once MESS starts up but I haven't seen an option to do that. Do you do that each time you go through score mode, and your save is there for you to load?

You, the user, don't enable anything. It is automatic. If it is not enabled in a game, and should be, then ask a mod to enable it for you.

Man.
I was preventing myself from playing any of those RPG Game Club challenges for the longest simply because I had no idea about that. That's a load off my mind, thanks Kong!
