Nintendo vs Sega

Well, this is the second "vs" subject I'm doing and probably the last but I just have to ask which of the two companies produced the better games. I'm pretty sure most of you remember the huge rivalry between the two. Might I remind everyone of "Genesis Does What Nintendon't" campaign and "Blast Processing" Well now that the rivalry is over and things are patched up, what do you really think was the better company? I vote for Nintendo because my parents had all of the Nintendo systems and I was raised on those but my cousins who lived right next door to me and babysat me everyday introduced me to Sega. Both the Genesis and SNES were my favorite systems of all time along with the NES but I remember long nights of playing Nintendo games and leaving the Genesis games aside. Well, please reply.

i think nintendo was better. i think its better because nintendo had more appealing games, like the legend of zelda, metroid,the final fantasy series (some of it), most of all mario, and a WHOLE lot more

Nintendo is definitely better. Sega was a great company but they've started going downhill making Sonic 3-D and everything.

Genesis was a great system with some really cool games but NES just blows it away. No real contest in my opinion.

I think the SMS was a better system but the NES had way more games. In the end the game catalog that a system can offer is about the most important thing and in that respect Nintendo won but they used underhanded monopoly tactics in the 80's to do so. Making third party developers sing exclusive contracts etc.

Hey Kong, I have been wanting to ask you this question for a while now and that is how come you chose Master System over the NES because Nintendo was everywhere back then and I don't think Master System had as much publicity as Nintendo. Did you want a Master System originally or did you want the NES originally but you didn't get one. Thanks anyway.

You know, at first thought I would say Nintendo. I mean, they are still making hardware and doing very well in present day, while Sega is no longer making hardware and their software is just OK. But thinking about it, at this current second I have 4 systems hooked up to my 2 T.V.s, and 1/2 of them are Sega consoles. My NES is in the closet gathering dust, and I played my Dreamcast just earlier today, and my Genesis not too long ago. So I think I am going to be in the minority here and go with Sega.

I choose it by reading the back of the box at the store when I was 10. I had never played either and I had not heard much hype for either one. It probably started my love for underdogs - always having to defend it to my friends etc. I got a Genesis probably partly because it was Sega and partly because it came out before SNES.

nesplayer2299, in many foreign countries, the SMS was incredibly popular. In fact, even by the time that Japan and the US had moved on to the Genesis, SMS versions of Genesis games were being produced for those countries where it was still prevalent. The SMS was clearly no push-over console.

Like TMT, I've got to cast my lot with Sega. Once I "graduated" from the NES, I was on the Sega bandwagon until there wasn't one to follow anymore. :( I've got too many fond memories, old and new, thanks to Sega to cast my vote any other way.

Yeah, sorry Tekkaman I did know it was insanely popular in foreign countries but I decided to focus more on the American audience but you are right SMS was a great system and is in my top three favorite systems. In fact I can't really choose between the two systems because I grew up with both at the same time. I played the Master System when I was like two years old or so in the Philippines which is where I was from, it was there where I also played the Famicom for the first time. When I came back to America after a month and a half my parents gave me all of their Nintendo systems which I played religiously but then my parents would drop me off at my cousins house next door and they were part of the Sega bandwagon also and I played all their games their. Its kind of hard to choose and I can't because I was raised on both companies games at the same time and played each one equally so I can't choose.

Same here, I got NES then SNES and then a Genesis so my vote is very bias.

well i'm voting nintendo, sega cut it close, and i love the dreamcast (even though iv'e never actually seen one) i mean nintendos just been there with me longer

Sega's systems were superior graphically and in sound quality. But Nintendo had more games, better games and quite simply, made better first party games.

I play for the games, not the consoles. Nintendo will always have my vote.

Eh, Tenser are you talking about the Genesis and the SNES? If so I always thought that the SNES had better graphics because if you compare games like Vectorman and Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country has a much bigger variety in colors and Star Fox also was one of the first 3-D games on a console. As for sound, I always felt the sound quality on the SNES was better then Genesis because though games like Moonwalker had good sound, SNES was able to have a true stero sound experience due to the Sony sound chip in the console. Maybe I'm wrong but that's what I remember from my experience.
