IGN did a brief article on what classic aspects should be brought back to life in the Zelda series. The one that caught our attention was the return of a second quest. We saw the second quest concept integrated into games such as Ocarina of Time and The Wind Waker, but neither one lived up to what was experienced with the original Legend of Zelda. Ocarina of Time’s (Zelda 64) second quest was originally planned as a whole new Zelda game (instead we got the Master Quest) and The Wind Waker was hardly altered at all (Hey, Link is wearing pajamas in his new quest!). Continue reading to check out IGN’s opinion on why the second quest rocked and why it should return!

i thought about this a few weeks after the marathon contest ended, the 2nd quest of zelda (no save states) would have been a pretty cool game to have in that contest.

Interesting premise. I agree that that was a fun variation back in the day.

Even something as simple as playing again in a different costume (i.e. Metroid) was a fun little change.

I was plesantly surprised when I saw that you could replay Dante's Inferno with all the abilities you earned in the previous game. That made it more fun the second time around.

All of the new Castlevanias for ds have at least one, if not more second/third quests. You get to play through the game with some of the people you've met along the way, and the all have new abilities so you need to play through differently. Also they have the start over with all you've collected. (besides abilities that allow you access to areas before you should be there, that could break the game)
