Welcome to RU Enemy Ace. Do you live in Brazil? If so where?
Eu não falo o português - is that right? I know a few Portuguese people but the language is hard for me. I know bad words mostly. :(
14 high scores in your first few days is pretty good. Congratulations.

Thanks for your reception.
Welcome to RU Enemy Ace. Do you live in Brazil? If so where?
Far away of big cities. In a little, really little state called Rondonia.
Eu não falo o português - is that right?
No, it's wrong - you talks a little, yet.
I know a few Portuguese people but the language is hard for me.
Portugal's portuguese, for we, brazilians, is very strange, too. They eat first vogals of all word they talk... Understand portuguese people is always a challenge, because they talks very fast, too.
I know bad words mostly. :(
First thing to learn, on all languages, ever!
Welcome to RU! You're english is good enough to understand. Where did you learn your english?

Welcome to RU! You're english is good enough to understand. Where did you learn your english?
Not that good. I see now, the most correct would be to write "My greetings to everyone", right? What the shame... Now I know how a SNK character feels.
I learn almost all alone, reading magazines, books and comics helped by my loyal and pretty old dictionary english-portuguese-english.

How do you say "I don't understand Portuguese"? I was told by a Brazilian that it's "No intiendo portuguese" but I have no idea how to spell inteindo. I thought that was wrong so I used the translator Seahawk linked it gave me "Eu não falo o português".
Where I live we have a lot of Brazilian immigrants and they seem to understand when I say that first one. Are they just being nice?
I looked up Rondonia and it seems like a nice place. Do you live near any rainforest/jungle or is it mostly cities now? Also how did you find retrouprising?

Thanks to Kong and you, SH, for recommend translators. Fact is, sometimes that machines change entirely what I mean when I write.
You've been my most frequent opponent in these days, a first class player man, really. I wish we can battle some more.

"Eu não falo português" it's correct, I was trying joking before - seems I can't make jokes in English... "Inteindo" is the form that some people here says "entendo". Brasil is a big country, and almost each state people have your own accent at portuguese language.
But "no intiendo portuguese", normally, I hear only from italian newcomers.
I looked up Rondonia and it seems like a nice place. Do you live near any rainforest/jungle or is it mostly cities now? Also how did you find retrouprising?
Retrouprising was recommended by a colleague, and I am very grateful to him for that.
When I arrived here in mid 1980's really was a jungle. Now things is different, the state has grown, but is still relatively quiet enough for me.
I think virgin forest is now a state of Amazonas' privilege only.

Hey, that's a start. I'm good with understanding somewhat limited English, my only advice is to stay with words you would find in a dictionary, English slang is easy to mess up, especially when you have a limited base to start with.

No, English is my native language. I have dealt with people learning English as a second language, and helped them along. If you were to learn English as a second language, that would help, seeing as most of the slang people pick up from old American movies, that show around the world by now, is outdated. Have you noticed that Americans are often seen as cowboys around the world? Or maybe seen the shock that we all don't talk with a heavy Texan accent and say stuff like "This town ain't big enough for the two of us."?

I fully understand what you mean about different parts of Brazil having different ways of saying stuff. The US is the same, I can't understand some of these weirdos half the time(southern people mostly).
That's interesting about the Italian newcomers. I guess it's very close to Italian so they feel comfortable saying it. Some Brazilians tell me Italian is easy for them to learn because it shares a lot of the same words but slightly different. They also tell me english is one of the hardest, I believe it. Our language is full of stuff that makes no sense and most of us can barely understand it all.

"No entiendo portuguese" sounds more like spanish to me, except "portuguese" might become "portuguesa". Spanish has a lot of dialects too (mine is Puerto Rican), and speakers also talk very quickly. It makes me wonder how people keep up.
Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian are very related since they have similar grammar structure from my experience. English is very different, especially American English, there are so many rules and exceptions for it.
I think what he means from "I think virgin forest is now a state of Amazonas' privilege only" is that since the rain forest is cut down for development, he means that the untouched forest would only be where the Amazon's (the all women tribe) live.......in other words very deep forest.

English is very different, especially American English, there are so many rules and exceptions for it.It's because they're old languages that come from Latin. I heard people who know latin can learn most european languages easier than someone who doesn't. It's the root language of those three. English is too but it's been altered to the point of making it unrecognizable, if I remember right.

Understanding dialects in Brazil can be a pain, because my father often does buisness
in Rio Grande do Sul, he's been dubed a "Gaucho" by my mom's family.

Long time I don't play this. Really a good puzzle game, I played some times at my GBA..
And what you think about Puyo Puyo games? Very addictive to me.
--------------------------------------------------
They also tell me english is one of the hardest, I believe it.
I disagree. I think English language logic and comparatively easy to learn. Silly me don't gone to an English course yet, there are many schools of English.
Portuguese is more complicated to learn, because principally for have many "verbal times", tenses, I think is the correct word. Verbs changes greatly depending on the person and tense.
For example:
SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
Eat (comer)
I eat - eu como
You eat - tu comes
He/She/It eats - ele/ela come
We eat - nós comemos
You eat - vós comeis
They eat - eles comem
You says eat-eat-eat... We, changing verbs' ending all times. Is difficult to learn at first. And sounds bad if someone fail.
Does your colleague use the site still?
I think not. I have not seen him around here these days.
What does "state of Amazonas privilege" mean?
The forests here in Rondonia were largely exterminated. Amazonas, biggest Brasil's state, is harder to access, then it has lasted longer. Only after the damage has already been done, the government took steps to lessen the devastation. Don't misunderstand me: there are still many trees, but the hardwood today are rare.
Brazil has some of the hottest women on the planet, just saying ;)

I changed the title to say My greetings to everyone since you mentioned it earlier. Hope that's ok.

Almost right. "Amazonas" is the name of the largest state of Brazil. As it has many non-navigable rivers and few roads, it is difficult to establish.

It's a shame that they waited until it was too late to care about the trees. If people had more options they wouldn't need to clear cut the forests and ruin the land.
I cannot thank you enough for this.
