I was sleeping over my girlfriends house and we decided to go to Omegle.com. I knew it was a dumb site when I first saw its motto, "Talk to strangers!" Anyways, we went on the video chat part and unfortuanetly we saw about 5 guys, not being "incontroll of teir own domain" if you get what I mean and one lady and dog having too much fun :sick: Thats when we decided to give up on that. Anyone else ever heard of/used it?

This sounds a lot like what happened when my gf and I checked out chat roulette. It was 99% lonely guys enjoying their own company so to speak and 1% weirdos with no friends(I assume or else they wouldn't be idling in a random chat lobby).

I had some friends try out chat roulette and tell me about it. Not for kids. If I had kids, which I wont, I would let them do just about anything they wanted. But I might, maybe, draw the line at this. Addictive drugs are beyond this line and would be off-limits. Porn is before this line and would be ok, if I was the parent.

1. I think pot is addictive. Just not as easily addictive as alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine and other drugs.
2. I think pot is bad for adolescent minds. More so than adults.
3. Telling kids they can't do something is the best way to make them want to do it right away. I would try to explain why I thought they shouldn't do it and hope they make the right decision on their own. Parents can not make decisions for kids without first completely screwing them up for life by being way over the top religious, abusive or manipulative.

95% of the people on things like chat roulette are looking for sex. Most of them are adults. Adults willing to have cyber sex with children enters a very dangerous realm that can snowball into worse things. More dangerous that pot less dangerous than heroine. Also more dangerous than regular old Internet porn.

Might, maybe? I think it's pretty obvious that a kid shouldn't be allowed to use a chat program known mostly for lonely guys masturbating. It's fine for adults or even older teens imo but that should be the line.

Might, maybe?I would for sure discourage it. I just don't think it is very effective for parents to forbid things. You only get one or two firm nos and the then the kid starts doing whatever they want. Example. If you allow Internet porn but draw the line at cyber sex with adults then they would probably happily go along with that. But if you say they can't do anything they want to do then they will start doing everything you don't want them to do.

That's you though, not everyone will have the same results. I think it's safe to say you are not typical. No offense intended of course.

I think everyone should draw the line at porn and cybersex kinds of things. Just discouraging is not always enough. I hate to generalize but some personality types will see discouragement as weak and they won't worry about consequences or feel any guilt. They need to be told it's not ok by someone in charge. That's my opinion but I think it's a fact of life. I know this doesn't work with everyone because, like you said, they'll just rebel against the rules and do it out of spite. It's a fine line and unfortunately it's a judgment call not everyone is able to make.
