Pokemon Green

I heard of this in another topic and thought it deserved it's own.

The translation is awful. Here are some quotes I enjoyed.

"boys should go to travel whenever he likes. H'm! ... It is said in TV!"

"Grandpa! and others are very tired!"

"The PET strepped on the water is dependent on the tortoise?"

I like that one.:lol: I love seeing poor translations as well. I think it adds some perspective to how these games were made back then. I haven't heard of this in modern games, too many testers.

Now you know why Green was never released as a separate entity. We got Blue instead and frankly, I agree poor translations are funny.

Here's the thing, Japanese Red and Green versions are not equivalent to Red and Blue.

What we got is two versions of Japanese Blue, which was improved in terms of graphics and features.

Not really. This is Green we're talking about. The only game GameFreak would allow you to catch all 151 doesn't belong here, does it? This is why we have Yellow.
We have Yellow because it's a nudge towards the anime. Green was the odd duck sicne it could catch them all in one version. We never got the Red/Green of Japan we got the updated version with better gfx than that.

The first 2 Pokemon games were released only in Japan. They were known as Red and Green. A couple of years later, Japan got Pokemon Blue, an updated version of the original games with better graphics and sound. Our Red and Blue versions are built off of the Japanese Blue's engine, with the lists of exclusive Pokemon coming from Red and Green. So there are actually 4 generation 1 games in Japan. Each version does have exclusive pokemon, so you can't catch 'em all in any of the games without trading.

Yes, that's true. But if Nintendo didn't want people to do outlandish things to get them all, they wouldn't have slots for the GameShark.
