WCW Backstage Assault


Backstage Assault was the last in a long line of WCW games made. this edition featured new wrestlers like David Flair, Crowbar, Medusa Miceli, and even some favorites like Billy Kidman, Ric Flair, and Goldberg.

Graphics: 5/5
The graphics have been improved since the days of WCW Mayhem. Now they actually look like their real life counterpart, and torching them is funny to watch.

Sound: 5/5
No announcers as usual, meaning we don't have to listen to Tony Schiavone talking about random stuff. The sounds made to show being hit by an object are accurate.

Replay Value: 5/5
It's well worth replaying so you can unlocking wrestlers like Lance Storm, 3 Count, or even Mike Awesome. You have to have a Controller Pak (or memory card, whichever version you play), but it's well worth it.

Challenge: 5/5
The move sets have gotten a lot more difficult since WCW/NWO World Tour and Revenge.

Yeah seriously. I love the N64 but I doubt I'd ever wanna play it again. Those graphics just don't age well. Back in the day this was awesome though!

Day of Reckoning Cam? I liked it but I wouldn't go so far as saying it's the best, I mean I relly enjoyed Day of Reckonings 1 & 2 but imho Smackdown Shut Your Mouth was the best wrestling game out of all on the 3 systems.

As for this review, I enjoyed it... the game however, not so much as I was never really a WCW fan, I was more ECW and WWF...you know back when they were entertaining and not stupid like it is nowadays.

Never played that one, it was from the SVR series, which. I prefer the arcade style fighting in Day of reckoning over the awkward control in the SVR series, yeah I know it was before SVR, but it's still from the same series. Only thing I likead about SVR was the GM mode. Another plus, I watched wrestling in 04/05 & 07/08 but it got repetitive, and my favourite guys were always hated and lost (Edge). Anyways, I enjoyed 04/05 the most, and that is where the DOR games take place.

I'm not too big on the regular fighting genre other than KI & Dragon Ball Z: Budokai, I haven't played many. Guess that was a stupid comparison, I never liked the N64 wrestling games either...

I'm glad you admit how bad the fighting game comparison is.

I loved the N64 wrestling games but all the ones after them just seemed to focus too much on graphics and/or "options" and skimped on actual gameplay.
