How do I break the bridge in the Caverns to get to the Abandoned Mines?

There's a section of the floor that looks like bue ice; right outside the entrance to the scylla worm boss area. Use a weapon that can slash down diagonally (or a spell, or sub-weapon) to break the floor. That area is refered to as "the right lake" of the cavern. The abandoned mine is under the wooden bridge, a few rooms right of the waterfall.

To break the bridge, fly over the water fall to the left, to a small room with a switch in the wall. Walk into the switch until you get a confirmation message. Then go back to the wooden bridge and lure the skeleton ape over to the bridge before he throws the barrel--the barrel will break the bridge.

agreed. you can't knock the originals, or super castlevania IV (the best of the traditional format, imo) but sotn is just ace.

its really tough for me to compare the ds ones to sotn, because ston was the one to bring the new format, so it gets a few bonus points for that.

But the soul system has so much depth, you can even play as Alucard in Julius mode.

No, I love regular DoS, but you get to play A Castlevania III type mode on top of that.

You get Alucard as an extra character in a mode you get after the game is done.

I actually like to play as Soma and I keep them on the same level of fun to play as.

The Tactical Soul system provides a depth that is rarely seen in games. I also sort-of liked the seals you had to draw in order to defeat a boss.

In my head there are two types of Vania games... I find it hard to compete them agaisnt eachother personaly.

You got he old school CV1 style of.. have character, have weapon, will travel.
the other is the obviouse RPG style began in the symphony days.. ((CV2 I considered like the old school ones)) where for the first time, you could go Backwards, and fully explore places.. by getting items you could explore rooms more fully, finding secret areas and getting that DAM item hiding in the bloody corner up there.. Since I was playign the game in japanise.. and had no idea what anything said.. I enjoyd the trial and error that went with the game.. (I has the saturn version, and have memorised to the point where I can clear most of the game in a few hours due to not being able to save.. -sigh-) teh only thing I didn't like about he RPG vania games is that.. for MANy items an thigns.. (namely souls in aria and dawn) you had to continuely run in and out and kill the same enemy over and over and over and over and -shot-. I understand the system of luck.. and thats all fine.. but when you have a 99 MAx luck.. and you have just killed that monster 25 times in a row and STILL dont have its soul? THATS crazy.. but ima completetist so.. could just be my problem.

I have to admit to you though.. the later vanias have had one thign symphony hasn't that has made me very happy. BOSS RUSH MODE! I love being able to Go back and beat the snot out of those guys again^^.

bottom line is.. yeah its the same series.. but its not fair to compare classic games lik SC4 and pther of its type, with the engaging Rpg system of symphony style games.. I am looking forward to playing Por at some point.. because I like that you can have VK, but you dont need to use it. If you want to use a sword fine.. But every now and then.. when playing aria.. As soma.. I just equip the whip sword.. and go old school on those bad guys XD.

Oh and slighlty off topic.. do you think DOS will be the last time line wise, castlevania game? Or do you think.. after soma dies.. that dracula returns again? Or maybe Soma rises up instead!

Evil alucard would be awesome though.. now THATS a boss fight..

it was the first time Id seen it happen. I have only recently played metroid games.. (Which are awesome by the way lol) I was not referring to the first game it happened in,, it was just hte first game I had played where it happened.

though yeah Demon castle wars julius would be awesome to play^^.
