I'm curious to know what flavors you guys think are GREAT!:p
This can include
Candy
Ice Cream
Cake
or things of a dessert or sweet - tooth satisfying nature.

In addition to stating your favorite flavor, please post a pic of the way you like to enjoy your favorite flavor.
Like this:
Usually I go for chocolate, in a semi - sweet, high - cocoa content bar.

I prefer salt over sweet. I'll take a bag of chips over candy any day of the week. Although, every once in a great while I go into a major candy binge and hit the convenience store and grab a few candy bars.

I don't really have a big sweet tooth so I'll opt for the chips and pretzels. I only have cake on my birthday and pie during Thanksgiving.

I prefer salt over sweet as well. If I quit drinking I will have sweets. Kinda like the recovering alcoholic that has 8 sugars in his coffee to make up for all that sugar in booze they aren't getting anymore.

Hi guys!
Looks like a pretty even spread on the poll so far, but I forgot to include 'Other, please specify' in the poll.

I thought I had it all covered, but DN surprised me with something not easily referenced, categorized, or cataloged.
http://chimichanga.files.wordpress.com/2007/09/the-x-files.jpg the snacks are out there...

So if something isn't on the list please feel free to state it and post a pic if you like.

I added a "none of the above" option and cast my vote for it. If I had to pick off that list I'd go with chips but only because I prefer salty/starchy stuff.

I was looking for something else but this picture looks so damn good I had to go with it instead-

I thought this topic was what is your favorite desert/junk food. If it is favorite flavor then hands down hot. Anything hot and the hotter the better.

Followed up by vinegar and fermented.

Thanks for adding that option to the poll; I should have put it up there.
I tried to include enough options to encompass the majority of commonly chosen snack/dessert type foods.
In any event the bowl of chili looks good to me, too.

I had a hard time deciding on what to write myself, since I do have a strong coffee addiction and tend to have several cups a day.
The chocolate almost lost to the coffee.

Tenser, how could I forget the pie a' la mode?http://www.d.umn.edu/cla/faculty/troufs/anthfood/images/apple_pie.jpg

Kong, I eat these noodles
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_E-1UW-S4zb8/Rz8WcCfcUTI/AAAAAAAAAXg/IhHzUnPxe-8/s320/Jin+Ramyon+-+Mild+Taste+Package.jpg
These are the best tasting noodles ever and they have no MSG, and if you guys REALLY like hot, start with this yellow ("mild") pack.

But wait, I need to give you an idea of what I call hot.
I used to grow my own peppers when I had a garden and would eat them right off the plant:
hot thai, jalapenjo, and even a hungarian/harbanaro hybrid.

Now that we have that established, the "mild" pack noodles make my nose and scalp sweat.
THE "hot" variety is a truly painful experience.
Enjoy, guys.

I used to eat the Shin Ramyun, and yeah they are hot but if hot is what you like then try the Jin Ramyon red pack (spicy, not shown)
For the ultimate in insane painful heat slice a hot pepper into the broth and stir it around.

I don't get why people like to ruin the taste of food with stuff that feels like it's eroding your tongue. I can handle some hot stuff but when it gets to a certain point the flavor just disappears for me and it's all intense heat.

RU Joe
01-17-2010, 05:38 AM
THE burning sensation varies with the type and amount of peppers being used.

I think most of the Mr. Noodle grade of instant noodles use cheyenne, and the Ramyun Shin and Jin Ramyon will be using the much hotter ground chili peppers and possibly some soup base as well like Jin does.
Speaking about fresh - a - peppers,

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3264/2876007929_64f301a653.jpg

The heat is ALL in the white parts; the seeds and the 'ribs' running the length of the pepper.
I didn't believe it until a friend showed me by carefully slicing the ribs and seeds out of one of my wicked hot peppers and
it was just as cool as this, really:

http://www.alexquinn.org/japan/photos/medium/2005-07-13-192910--DSCN2721.JPG

It's really a matter of personal taste when it comes to spicy food, and I happen to be a nut for it.
Yes, it hurts, but it doesn't damage your taste buds like I have heard some people say it does
Other people think regular black pepper is too hot, and if they feel cheeky may try some
white pepper for a change!

And then there's those people who think ordinary red onions are too spicy when you put them in a salsa, even decanted.
Everybody is different.

Never heard of it.

I have some powdered Bhut Jolokia pepper - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, the hottest pepper. Around 300 times hotter than a jalapeno. It is as hot as you can get without getting extracts. Next time I am going to buy pure Capsaicin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 15 times hotter than the Bhut Jolokia.

I'm definitely more into salty than sweet. Beef Jerky, popcorn, sunflower seeds, you get the idea.

When I go for sweets, I lean towards ice cream, although I do have a weakness for Gummi-like candies like Mike and Ikes. I love me some Mike and Ikes.

Getting back to some previous posts, I know Dave's insanity sauce very well. In high school, my buddies ruined an entire day of school lunch with the stuff. >:D How? Let's just say the cafeteria ladies never left out vats of "serve yourself" BBQ sauce on Popcorn Chicken day ever again.

Nowadays, if I want spicy, I go for the greatest stuff on earth:

i was at a chinese food restaurant a while back and asked for a side of hot sauce, and i mixed it into my singapore noodle and it wasnt hot enough so i asked for another side and the lady started yelling at me in chinese then went out back brought out a bottle of that stuff and showed me the price tag shouting in chinese at me then she went out back again, a few minutes later she musta felt bad because she brought me the side.

And this stuff, too:
https://ssl100.webhosting.optonline.net/silverbayspices.com/merchantmanager/images/uploads/Chili%20Garlic%20Sauce.jpg
Actually, I have a funny story to tell about this stuff.
(Sooo much flavor, AWWWW YEAH, GIMME MORE!)

It happened when I was in my teens and really got into eating hot stuff along with some friends of mine.
Maybe it was a fluke at the factory, but one pack of noodles was the hottest I ever had, like they put 4 times the regular spice in the soup base.

So there I was, eating these molten lava noodles and dying silently inside, because you see, I couldn't let my friends know how much pain I was in.. but finally had to give in, sweating and panting.
It made Jin Ramyon spicy look like a joke by comparison, and it was funny because the 'toughest' among us thought I was kidding about how hot my noodles were, and when he tried it, even he was hurt.

But that wasn't enough for me, oh no.
I had to eat about a quarter of a bottle of the chili garlic paste, and landed myself in the hospital that night!
Just to clarify, it was the combination of the exceptionally strong pack of noodle base and the paste in conjunction which did me in.
http://members.shaw.ca/veni/stomachache.gif So moderation is the key, in my experienced opinion.
