Graphics: 5/5
The best graphics of 1991, either eclipsing or tied with Super Mario World's graphics (depends)...Everything looks great, lively, and overall colorful.
Gameplay: 5/5
While it's a sidescroller, it adds speed to it. It's so awesome, it's hard to explain it. Another good thing is that there's barely any slowdowns, if not, never. Also, there's Special Stages...which are okay, nothing much.
Controls: 5/5
The controls are plain simple: up, down, left, right, and jump. Simple and niche, and it doesn't affect the gameplay at all.
Sound: 5/5
Some of the most memorable and overall, awesome music of the 16-bit era, it's some of the best music I ever heard in my life.
Replay Value: 4.5/5
The replay value is a little lacking, well it'll make you play it many times, but not as much as the other games...it's still has pretty good replay value, though I wished the Chaos Emeralds did something, other than getting a good ending.
Overall: 4.9/5 = 98%
One of the best video games ever...and it's near perfect game and people shouldn't miss out of this very great game. Try it and you'll feel the same way as me.
