I just bought a glorious $250 monitor, full HD, with integrated speakers, so that I can play my 360 in 1080 without sacrificing my sound.

One problem.

Forgot the HDMI cable.

So, I'm here to confirm your suspicions (Or if you're Tenser, I'm here to tell you what you already know).

Did I miss something? I never heard anyone say you're stupid.

Heh, I've done stuff like that so many times...
It's like when you've finally made up your mind to spend the cash on some new and wonderful toy and you just want to hurry up and get it, come home and set it up so that you can

RELAX and PLAY - that's all.

That's why stuff like that happens, so it's not your fault Shades.
Happiness is a trip to the store away.

the question is, did you know you needed an hdmi cable?

Yes, here's sort of what happened.

I had a Dell monitor that was HDMI at one end, and some sort of white thing at the other end (that so far I've only seen with Dell monitors). So, in my mind I had an HDMI cable, but I didn't realize it was the wrong one.

@Dudebro- I meant that if you already thought I was stupid, here's some proof. =)

While redundant, confirmation is always appreciated.

A few days ago I made a broad-sweeping assertion that the vast majority of first-person shooters are stupid and that those who enjoy them are stupid as well. While I like Shades, he seems to have taken the comment to heart. I'm chalking it up to him still being new to the forum.

Oh I dismissed that as PMS.

Well it's either that or I assume you're irrational about your FPS hatred. I figured you're too smart for that, was I wrong?

thats not stupidity, simple mistake. stupidity would be going to the store and buying the wrong cable.

I figured you were too smart to use strawman tactics, was I wrong?

Apparently not.

Here's my two cents: The HDMI cable is an absolute ripoff. Like all other cables, it should be included along with the monitor. Why should you be forced to spend an extra $20 for something that is essential to maximize the functionality of the electronics?

Shades, you aren't stupid. You were the victim of a scam. SUCKER! 8)

I think it's stupid to buy cables at stores, they always charge way too much. If you go to amazon you can get an HDMI cable for a quarter.

That is a huge rip-off. Next thing you know they'll be selling the manuals separately.

It's not like it's a new thing. Remember when people used antennas for reception? They weren't all made the same and you paid more for a better one. Same goes for Flat panel tvs. Out of the box you can use it just fine, but not optimal. Tube TVs usually came with the most basic antenna and you could use it fine, but a new antenna allowed you to have more channels.

That being said I agree it's a scam. I don't think it's big deal though.

Not that it matters. Real men don't read the instructions.

Shades

That's true. I spent five and a half hours setting up a four thousand dollar system only using instructions to attach the TV to it's stand. And that's only because my parents made me.
