I'm getting a little tired of the negativity. Worst this, worst that. i propose the best list.
Now, I know that opinions vary, so lets limit this to the movies that you like the best. not the best quality, critically acclaimed, most awards, non of that, this shouldn't be a debate. If you want to give a reason for why it is great, just say so.
seven samurai - absolutely classic
spaceballs - "its mega maid sir, she has gone from suck to blow."
bachelor party - if once, each of us could end up at a party like that.
shoot em up - best drinking game movie ever.

Don't you know that a deal was once made between me and Bruce Lee during the filming of Enter the Dragon where Bruce would defeat me in a fight. No one knows the conditions of that deal but Mr. Lee died “mysteriously” soon after leaving behind only one witness who claims there was a flash of light and a single roundhouse kick. that witness is now dead. by reading this, you have become a threat to me. if you cant see me right now, you may already be dead.

All right, excellent choices everyone!
I think that Luna has a point with The Thing, because it is a very unique movie in the way that it was shot, almost in a 'doumentary' style at times.
It gives the audience a deeper sense of fear through the fact that the story takes place in isolated Antarctica where the characters have no hope at all for rescue from the outside world.
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/the-thing-remake-a-prequel.jpg
Here is a pic of me in the morning.
(only kidding, it's a screenshot from The Thing)
Spaceballs, Spaceballs, Spaceballs.
A cult classic.
I wouldn't be surprised if one day they start having 'costume party' type showings at theaters the way they do with Rocky Horror Picture show.

Now this:
http://opinionsandexpressions.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/van-helsing-av-guix.jpg
may not be the 'best' movie in my opinion but it is an example of what I call a
'Hollywood formula' movie, in that the content and cadence are edited to 'perfection'.
One scene flows seamlessly into the next, and the comedy and sight gags are well tuned and timed instruments unto themselves.

There is a rare short film called
'Within the woods'
which was Sam Raimi 's first 'Evil Dead' project and the scariest of the bunch in my opinion.
I love the campy humor of the series and (at that time) unique FX which were later to be incorporated in
Xena: Warrior Princess extensively.
Ahhhh, Xena.

The Good the bad and the Ugly - Greatest movie ever.Great choices, I love the movies that have a unique flavor.
Is it the storylines or 'the man with no name' (Blondie) that does it for you?
Personally, I thought Tuco was hilarious!
What a SKUNK!

I'm not a big fan of westerns but the good, the bad, and the ugly was a good movie.

My favorite movies, short list:
1. High Noon-old western starring Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly. I really identify with Will Kane. It's and old but sometimes forgotten classic.
2. Batman (1989)-Michael Keaton is still the best Batman on the big screen, to me.
3. Batman: The Dark Knight
4. The Godfather
5. The Godfather, Part II
6. The Fugitive
7. Tombstone
8. The Replacements-it is dumb in some ways, but I find it funny and entertaining

I'd agree with most of your list. I don't know much about #3 or #8 though. Also, I'd add The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.

Apology accepted, but yeah, the original is not just a slapstick comedy, on top of that its a very touching film, it explores relationships, family turmoil, speaks a lot about values, decision making, prejudice... This is the reason that the movie works so well, it's the reason that pretty near every scene in that film is so memorable.
Give it watch with the fam next Christmas.

Aliens is great but the best performance in that movie definitely goes to Lance Henriksen. Not just this scene but it's cool enough to link-
