I am going to work on the site FAQs soon. You can help by:

1. Asking questions that you think most people have about Retro Uprising, even if you personally already know the answer.
2. Answer questions posted here even if it is your own question.
3. Rewrite my answers. I know my writing skills are only average, if you think you can do better give it a shot.

for the nOObs: what are search bots/spiders?
answer: (basic) Search Bots and Spiders are just search engines researching a site so that it may be recorded on the site, for example MSN bots, Google Bots, Yahoo! Spiders and others.

(is it any good?)

This question has been asked countless times because search engine spiders used to show up in the "Whose Online" list. They caused too much confusion so I hide them on the list now.

OK, I dunno is this is the right place to ask this, but here goes:

Ive been playing Zelda and some of the hacks. All of a sudden, the arrow keys started sticking; not physically, but after letting of an arrow key, Link would keep going in that direction. What gives?

If the keys seem to stick it is most often caused by Java needing more CPU power than your computer is giving.

Somethings you can do to help the games play smoother are:
1) Use the NES lite mode instead of Full mode. That would mean you would not be able to save which would suck for Zelda.
2) Reboot your computer. If you are playing a game in Java and close that game and then play a second game, the first game can sometimes leave data in memory that slows your computer down. Rebooting is a sure way to clear your memory. You can also just close all browser windows and wait 10 seconds and then open your web browser again.
3) Make sure you have the newest version of Java installed. You can find the link in my sig.
4) Disable sound. In NES full mode you can do that by pressing S.
5) Do NOT enable any extra graphic features found by pressing escape to bring up the menu.
6) Do not use the rewind button (backspace).
7) If you are using IE, try Firefox.
8) Close any other running programs such as media players.

Q: "What's the rules on posting pictures in the forum?"
A: "Nothing over XX amount and no offensive/porn images."
(Not sure if you want to add that but I'm sure it will come up and we need to be careful some people like to screw around.)

Q: "What's considered appropriate for the forums?"
A: "Use common sense, Don't attack other members and keep it PG-13"
(Also not sure if this is good for the FAQ but I think we should have clear guidlines for forum content.)

This topic is fairly old. All the rules as far as what you can post etc can be found in the Rules & Help section in the top menu.

Feel free to continue to add though as I will update them occasionally.

The controller part of the rules and help section doesn't make sense, it looks like the same response from the old site but there's no question anymore. It says:

Using a Controller
Yes but your controller must simulate a keyboard. If your controller is not capable of simulating a keyboard you can use JoyToKey.

well kong u were right i guess its just my computer because i have the newest versions of firefox and java :(
