I have recently discovered the wide world of firefox add on's so here I am going to list some recommendations that I have found useful

Review:
I dont like the yahoo tool bar because it takes up to much space and I use google for all my searching needs anyways. this adds a nice little mail notifier to the bottom status bar of firefox. nice and out of the way.
I dont receive much email so it does not pop up a lot but I am sure it would be useful if you do get a lot of mail

this one is mainly a gimmick it adds a counter in the statusbar of firefox that tells you how much time you have spent online I have not played around with it to much but it would help you limit your surfing time if you need to get work done. you could take 15 min breaks.

this could be imporved with an alarm system of some sort but untill I find something to replace it. it gets the job done

This is the worst add on I have found to date. I missed class today because I was up till 4 in the morning playing with this little time waster.

I recommend you subscribe to the science and physics and video games.

a brief description of this would be. I tell it what I like hit stumble and it takes me to a random sight where I get sidetracked for hours playing with a flash phisics generator or watching an incredibly funny animation.

Have fun and get time tracker if you get this one.

I have not played around with this one to much but you can split your screen up into different sections. look at two different tabs at once ect.

has alot of potential since I use two monitors most of the time for work but just have not had much time to sit down and figure out what it can really do.

I wanted something to simply enhance my logins and this did the trick.
it just extends the useability of firefox's existing password remember

how I use it

retrouprising for example I right clicked the securelogin icon in the tool bar and selected add secure bookmark. then I added the bookmark to my bookmark toolbar and now I have a handy button below my address bar I can click and it will take me straight to retro and log in for me I set one up for my email G4 and others when I find them.

you can also control click the bookmark to open in a new tab

this handy little gadget allows me to right click any web page to store a quick book mark.

for example if I am doing research and I see a link that will take me off topic but it is about something I like then I can right click the link and it will save it and I can come back to it any time I want

its quick simple and very effective to help keep on track.

I have not had to use this one (yet) but what it does is keeps a real time memory of forms you fill out.

for example (if I understand how this works)
I am typing this long forum message to you all and have spent 15 mins doing so for you benifit. but if my computer crashes I would lose all that work. but not with Lazarus it saves all my text as I am typing so I would just have to right click and recover and all my work would pop back.

sounds like a life saver which is why I did not hesitate to get it.

I will have to search if it has more functionality though because I am sure it does.

this one stops flash animations from playing and gives you a button to click if you want to view them.

it has sped up my browsing since I dont have to wait for things to load
but if you want to view the flashes you just have to click on it so I like it but some may not.

Helps with flash ads as well

I like things out of the way and the status bar is perfect so it is win win
and it adds more information to your downloads like progress and duration left ect ect

Addons I use in alphabetical order.

Alexa Sparky. It just tells you how popular a website is. Like Nelson Ratings for the Internet. If you have it installed then it monitors what sites you visit to determine which are the most popular. It isn't very useful but since RU is the number one site I visit and some people use these stats to determine how much advertisement money they will give me in the future I have it installed.

ArcadeOX. Obviously.

BugMeNot. This is great. It will annomously log you into many sites that require you to register before viewing.

Foxit PDF Reader. Faster than Adobe's.

GreeseMonkey. I don't use it very much but it is powerful. Lets you rewrite webpages to have better functionality.

GreeseFire. Helps you find GreeseMonkey scripts. If you install GreeseMonkey then this is a must have.

Lazarus. I think this slows my computer down. But it has saved me numerous times. It saves all test you type on the Internet. Even though it slows down my computer it is still worth it. You can adjust the settings so it doesn't save the info for ever and that should lower the PC strain.

SkipScreen. Skips some some full page advertisements.

Web Developer. Helpful if you are writing HTML.

Yes but only a little. Alexa.com is the most popular site for determining the popularity of websites. It can only tell the popularity by tracking the sites used by people that install that addon. So if you have it installed then the sites you normally view will get higher ratings. The ratings are used when determining the value of a site and it ad spots.

Submitting to stumble and digg and similar sites would probably help more than the alexa addon.

I use: adblock plus, Arcade OX, Firebug, IE Tab, and Imacros

adblock plus: Blocks ads. Highly reccomended.
Arcade OX: :P
Firebug: Can edit html on a page. I use it on CollecToons to find bugs within the game. Oh and tease Dudebro with his age.
IE Tab: Opens an IE tab in Firefox. very useful if you need to use IE.
Imacros: Don't really use it nowadays.

Some of these are VERY INTERESTING. ;)

It does it anonymously but it is only a tiny help. Not worth it.

Submitting to Digg, Stumble etc is a big help. They have addons for that too.

I've gotten into this awful habit of using Chrome for everything. I started using it because it was easy to access Facebook (Chrome knew my Facebook and only my Facebook), but now I use it for everything. Is there anyway I could get some sort of "me" Firefox that knew only my passwords and stuff? That would be cool, to start of Facebook and to log on. I suppose I could make a new account on XP... is that too far?

In Firefox you can delete all saved personal info - passwords and such. But it is all or nothing. You can't delete your sisters without also deleting yours.

You might be able to install two versions of Firefox and you use one and let everyone else use the other.
