:whatthe:
I was wondering, Everyvideogame.com and Retrouprising.com.... any connection?
Sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm still new here. I tried looking around on both sites but I didn't see much about it besides some similar named posters and of course all the old school games.
So yeah I'm confused.
If it helps I like this site alot more than EVG.;)

They both use NES cafe for their emulators but I don't think they are related.
And this site is way better better.
Some of the mods and a couple of the forum members are the same. And as Tagen said both use NEScafe as the NES emulator.

So there's no connection between the two sites?
Are the sites friendly with each other?
Who has more games?(Wondering since I don't think I can count all the games on both).
I was linked to EVG from another forum, at first I loved it, then a poster on there(Tenser maybe?) mentioned this site and I was hooked.
Sorry to ask alot of questions, just seems wierd.

Some of us visit/mod on both sites. This site has more games that EVG does. And, since most of us are in both places, the sites are friendly with each other.
I think we have more games than any other site.

I found EVG.com one time surfing the web and I was hooked.
From there, I moved on to ONVGP.com which then turned into Retrouprising.com.
My loyalties are, and always will be, here at RU.

I think many of us started on EVG. There was a link to EVG from a local radio station where I live by a DJ who is really into gaming, that's how I found it.
After going through their forums, there was a mention of a site called onVGP (mostly for those of us who wanted to play Mario or Zelda games). Eventually onVGP (due to serious technical difficulties) became what you see today as Retro Uprising.
I very rarely go to EVG anymore (I couldn't tell you when I last logged on) due to my loyalty to this site. While I was writing this post I checked out EVG and noticed this (link (http://www.everyvideogame.com/module-pnFlashGames-viewTopPlayers.htm) to something pretty cool for me, still second after all this time:cool:)

You're evil twin??? He seemed a bit calmer and nicer if I remember correctly, but like I said, it's been a while since I been to EVG.

Misunderstood?
One more question, are there more NES games and/or systems being added down the line? Not that I'm complaining, I am impressed with the current collections. Just curious if there are plans for new content ect ect.

Yes and yes. Kong is always working on expanding in one form or another. We're looking at expanding the NES library an extra 40 to 67 games. Extra systems are always on the horizon. I wont go into any details so don't bother asking. That's for Kong to decide.

probabbly gonna get a few comnents about this, but I actually like EVG better, it's the first websit where i tried gettinig involved in the forum. (someone once told me RU was originally a site evg made after the legal troubles at evg but then the server screwed up so he gave it to someone else)

It depends on what you're looking for.
EVG is a forum site with a splattering of games on the side.
RU is a gaming site with a forum on the side.

Ok I got another question then, is there a notice about when new stuff is added?
I'm trying to play your NES games that aren't played much and get some decent scores up there.
Oh and thanks for the prompt replies, makes it feel like you guys really care about the site.
but I actually like EVG better
Why's that? Honestly I don't see how its better, this site rocks.

Retro gets way more attention than EVG does, more upgrades, better board, ect, we could always use more quality posters here at Retro, so feel free to make these forums better.
Oh and JLew is my sworn enemy!

it's actually because my brother hogs the computer and i have to use my wii to get on the internet.
Ok I got another question then, is there a notice about when new stuff is added?
No. I used to do that but I suck at it. I am really bad with time and schedules and planning things out. Besides surprises are good.
Google likes that site better. It does awesome in search engines. We do not. Searching for nearly any NES game will give you EVG in the top ten results. :bully:

What I meant was a notice on the front page when the content is actually added, not before. Surprise me please, just let me in on the surprise so I don't miss it.:(
I'm telling everyone I know about this site, I got a few new people joining soon...I think.

I'm so glad someone at EVG posted links to this site. Love the games (although i'm not such a hot gamer) + the vBulletin forums = best.
edit: Speaking of confusion, what happened to GR GAMERZ, hm? :|

When I noticed that this site was down a few days ago, i went to EVG to see if anybody knew what was happening here. when i was going through the forums trying to find something, I noticed that there are a ton of threads started by people wondering why there were no games like sonic and mario. all of them had the same replies from irritated mods who said that the games aren't allowed on that site. So why is it that we are allowed to have the games and not EVG? And if the sites are friendly with each other (I remember EVG introducing ONVGP a couple years ago in the forum) why dont the people who want to play these games just come here?
I also like this site a lot better than EVG.
Honestly, I do not know why we are allowed to and they are not. I have tried to stay on friendly terms with the game companies and I suppose it has worked.
Switching websites or anything else that you are used to is not easy for most people to do. Example - Myspace and youtube are not the best at what they do but people don't want to switch - they stick with what they know.
There's another site that's like Youtube?! What's it called?

Are you going for necropost of the year or something?
ZedIsDead

Well, with you guys taking the older scores, someone's got to keep the memory of our long lost members alive.
Seriously, though, as long as the necro reignites meaningful discussion in the thread, I don't see the harm in it.

This is also funny because it shows when Tenser used to have colored font with his posts. I wonder why he stopped? Maybe I should bring it back? Nah that takes too much effort.
Probably because he realized it was lame.

That's Serpentor, JG. Cobra Commander wears a mask to hide his horribly disfigured face

@JG- I am disappointed, this is Cobra Commander-
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/ba/Cobra_commander.jpg
Serpentor was the megalomaniac genetically created by Dr Mindbender(the dude in my avatar) from historical leaders like Napoleon, Alexander the Great, ect. His whole shtick is to command everyone to do stuff. He's got R. Lee Ermey beat easily.
@Joz - They probably didn't believe your bump was serious.
Yeah, well it was and I'm still waiting for an answer.

I know Kong has mentioned it since this old post but I forget what the name was. He seemed kinda disappointed that this other service was better but everyone uses Youtube because it's so well known. If I remember right.
At the time Youtube had a 10 minute limit on videos which I thought was horribly stupid. That was my biggest complaint against them but they have recently abolished that rule.

Besides, who knows what Cobra Commander really looks like under his hood?
I still say: Sgt. Hartman for the win.
