The genre or the actual piece?

The genre would obviously be Classical and I believe that style of Classical is called a Sonata. It's basically a composition of one to four solo instruments, typically played in three to four movements. Usually the movements contrast each other greatly in both form, keys, and tempo.

In your instance I heard a piano, cello, and violin, though it might have been a viola . A very somber piece indeed.

And I didnt mean genre I mean the name of the song!

OMMFSOBG, THANK YOU, i was wondering where i orriginally heard it, and now that i think about it, it IS from Requiem for a Dream (which was a great movie BTW)

Sorry fedora. I know a few things about the classical genre but not enough to name specific pieces. Though I should have recognized it. The Kronos Quartet play one of my favorite pieces, Pieces of Africa.

actually the song is called "Lux Aeterna" by Kronos Quartet, but it is from Requiem though ;) :D
