Utterly loved the SNES star wars games. ^^ They were so much fun. Return of the Jedi though has to be one of my faves of the series.

Super Empire Strikes Back was brutal, but awesome.

The best star wars games ever released were Jedi Outcast II,
Rogue Squadron II, TIE Fighter, Arcade Trilogy, and KotoR I & II.

IMO.

No sir, it has not. I don't think that's even been given a release date yet. I know you can find some leaked footage of it somewhere around here. i'll post something if i find it. :D

Has Star Wars: Battlefront 3 come out?
No it has not. Bioware gave the project to Free Radical but the project got canned after Free Radical filed for bankruptcy and some different company is working on some awful DS port of Battlefront.

Wow really? I didn't know all of that. I liked the 2nd one. I never played it online though, so I guess I don't really know all the hype about the series.

They're making a new Battlefront for the PSP and DS.
But no, it's not III.

I loved the Coin-Op Star Wars in all its vector graphics glory. I liked the sit down cabinets, they had that cool Tie Fighter controller!

That sit down game does sound awesome. I never saw one where I lived though, we had all racing sims for sit down stuff.

I played the Star Wars Coin-Op machine and I don't remember a TIE Fighter controller, but
I'll take your word for it.

Welcome to RU, ask me if you need any suggestions.

The best games are the first 2 coin-op games, and the Model 3 game Star Wars Trilogy Arcade. The latter sometimes came in a huge cabinet that you go inside, and it has curtains to block out the rest of the world, so you are totally immersed in the game. There's even space inside for a second person, such as a little brother =).

I had Super Star Wars on SNES way back when {funny, I don't remember what happened to it} and have fond memories of battling the Sarlacc Pit Monster.

In his belly I learned a new meaning of pain as I was slowly digested over 1000 games.

One of my earliest gaming memories is the Atari coin-op release of Return of the Jedi from the early 80s. I was about five years old and loves it - even had generated speech which was the best thing ever! I always used to get killed trying to leave the death star backwards after taking out the power generator. I used to put so many 10p coins in that machine, man!

It's funny the things you remember!

Wow, that's a lot of Star Wars games!
I have a few myself - Rogue Squadron 64, Episode 1 Pod Racer 64, Rogue Squadron 2 & 3 on Gamecube, and Battlefront 1 & 2 on Playstation 2.
Great games, lots of fun, awesome graphics.
That's the thing with Lucas Arts - they usually have high quality.

http://crunchgear.com/wp-content/uploads/cabinet-white-top.jpg

And I was known to put quite a few coins in the original coin - op game myself, especially when I was lucky enough to find the cabinet version = I thought I was Luke Skywalker himself!
{although I'm really Han Solo}

I've played the SNES Star Wars games. I always got frustrated with the Hoth level on Super Empire Strikes back. Even the Hoth battle on Battlefront 2 was easier than that.

I know what you mean; Empire seems to have inspired some tough gameplay for some reason.
Take for example Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back (http://retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/3841/) » Nintendo (http://retrouprising.com/game-menu/nintendo/)

A hard game to play - I know, I owned it back then.
But the 'Super Star Wars' series was even worse in terms of difficulty.
I enjoy a bit of a challenge, but when it takes me more than 20 tries to complete one level I consider that to be too much.

Believe it or not there are gamers who prefer nearly impossible gameplay such as that, claiming they 'get their money's worth' when it takes a long time to make progress in the game.
I can see their point of view, but I'm not the greatest gamer so I don't like it.
