Ok I don't get this at all they make a movie back in 1994 that was a OK movie at the best.
The original movie at least had Van Damme, and Raul Julia to save it.
Is there really a point to come out with another street fighter movie other then to piggy back on the other comic book and video game movies out there.
The biggest shock to me was who they picked for M. Bison. Neal McDonough. Don't know who that is well let me add a bit of incite to that he was Jay Hamilton in the movie Walking Tall. He was the casino owner. If that doesn't ring a bell then how about "Desperate Housewives" he plays Dave Williams.
I would like to hear others opinions on this as well.
Any way here is the trailer for movie as well as the whole cast list. The only thing that I do like is Michael Clark Duncan as Balrog. That I can see.

"OK at the best"
It was crap-tastic at the best
"The original movie at least had Van Damme and Raul Julia to save it"
Van Damme hurt it, Raul Julia helped slightly
"The biggest shock to me was who they picked for M. Bison. Neal McDonough."
Get out Neal, you still have a career!
You can see how I feel about the movie

I like how they make it based on the most boring character in the whole game. Let me guess, it's because she has big boobs and shows a lot of leg. Typical. Why not E. Honda? Or Blanka? Both of them would be more interesting.
Raul Julia is reason enough to like the other movie.
Btw I believe this is timed with the new 360 SF game. I doubt it's a coincidence.

I agree there dudebro they picked the wrong character to profile a movie around. I think that watching the history of Blanka and how he came to be would be alot more interesting then Chun-Li.

It's BLANKA! I just spelled it above your post!
But really, I say they should make the Dhalsim story, starring Ben Kingsley. I'd watch that. Hell even bring back Van Damme as guile I don't care.

From everything I have heard they completely cut out Ryu & Ken. The story also looks like it does not at all resemble the game. It kind of looks like trash to me. I will probably check it out when it comes out on DVD, but there is no way I am watching it in the theater.

This kinda reminds me of when they decided to make a game about Nina Williams. Yeah I bet most people reading that have no idea who that is, that's my point.
Most fans of Street Fighter only know the cool characters. The first SF movie might've been corny as hell but at least they focused on a main character that everyone knew.
Btw Nina is from Tekken, she's awesome but did not need her own game.
edit- Wow I just checked the cast list and I'm shocked. Only chun Li and the 4 end bosses are listed. Vega is being played by the guy from Black Eyed Peas. Yeah I'll pass.

Yeah I don't get it. Why even make another live action movie and then try to drive the fans of the game away? Who else is even going to watch it?
It's kind of like I was reading that they are now producing a live action King of Fighters movie, but they have gone and cut out the Bogards, but left in Mai Shiranui. As a big Neo Geo fan I was like, "WHAT?!" It just doesn't make sense to me.

Oh okay. In spite of everything else, if the fights are good in the new movie I will probably watch it on video, and maybe even pick it up if good enough. It's hard to top the original SFII anime movie, though.

if you really like bad movies, then i would suggest zombie strippers with jenna jamison and the guy that plays freddy in a nightmare on elm street.
the first street fighter with jcvd and julia was awful...and you could only classify julia's performance well if you believe his intention was to act poorly. btw, his two lines, "it helps me levitate" and "game ov-aaaaaa!!!" still rate on my worst lines list.
something i am interested in checking out is JCVD, basically a story about an actor past his peak in popularity that get caught in a real hero situation...van damme plays himself.

The guys who plays Freddy Jruger is named Robert Englund.
I think JCVD looks interesting too. It's kind of a mockumentary, but looks worth a look.[br]Posted on: February 23, 2009, 02:11:42 PM________________________________________________ _

I bought it for games too, but the PS3 is still one of the best Blu Ray players on the market. Also, if I don't buy anything before it, I will definitely be picking-up God Of War 3 when it comes out. I don't regret going Blu though, as it is awesome!

Ok I finally went out and saw this movie. So here is my simple review of it.
I give this movie 1.5 Stars.
The Movie itself was a little slow and not much to it. The only characters that even made the cut to the movie was M. Bison, Balrog, Chun-li, and very little of Vega. That was it. The only thing that I did like about the movie was the guy that played M. Bison. He did ok for the part, but was no where up to the standards of Raul Julias character.

I will tell ya this there is a mention of Ryu in the movie but that is it. They dont bring the character into it other then that little blurb in the movie. And they said "Ryu Something-or-other"
There is no need to see the movie its slow and not very good. At the action scenes they are so shaky that you don't really know what is going on.

count100
04-04-2009, 03:49 AM
Yes she does. That and the thing that Vega does where he spins with the claws that was the only basic references to the game. They both did that in the same fight scene. When that happened I thought the movie may be getting better. I was wrong.

I've always been a Neo Geo myself (though I like Street Fighter too), so a King of Fighters/Fatal Fury movie seemed like a good idea. Yeah it's a pretty safe bet that any movie made from source material will fail 99% of the time.
i have just seen the vega/chunli fight and iam still wondering the same ( i was thinking the same when i see the 1994 one... but not only that movies has this ``problem´´ i guess)
why in all street fighter movies vega is interpreted by a latin ( no ofense)
but we are not latins we are spanish xD we even not look like a latin ( they have darker skin and factions are quite diferent) i mean its so hard to find some not latin to do vegas role? ( vega is blond :D)
but this happends in almost all fight films i see ( the only excepcion was blood spot paco was interpreted by a sudafrican XD )
i dont really care but i just dont get the point why all american directors think that spanish are latin`s? i mean i just like a spanish makes a fighting movie and takes a blond big fat as american
as i said i wasnt trying to offense no one but its quite curious isnt it?

In that clip I couldn't tell if Vega was Asian, Latino or Native American. I was gonna look up the actor but the movie is so lame I lost interest.
It sounds like you're from Spain, most Americans lump you guys in with everyone of Latino background. It's not meant as offensive really, it's just ignorance.

i dont think its ignorance at all i think that we havent open to the rest of the world ( iam refering to our culture)
we are stuck in `` paella, bull fights, ole ole flamenco bonito ,tortilla de patata´´ XD
i think its just time that our culture goes to rest of world, but true is that videogames its a good mirror for us ( as i said japanese people think that we go every were riding a horse and whit a flamenco suit, i know that because i asked that to a japanese pal XD)
just ask to every one what thinks about spain XD
as i said i dont think is ignorance i think is more our fault
PS: vega is taboo from black eye peas ( i think he is peruan or jamaican dunno)

Of course a lot of countries have these same issues. I've heard some people from Spain treat other latino people poorly and lump them together(Puerto Ricans with Cubas, ect). Not saying you personally but I've heard about it from my spanish friends.
