So I have never used an IRC or FTP before in my life. I didn't even know what they did until today. But I have downloaded both in an attempt to download some nearly impossible to find files, and it is the only way I can seem to get them. I used the IRC to get an address and a login for the FTP. I went to the FTP and connected and that all worked fine. I found the files I needed and told it to download em. No dice. I have tried it several times with 2 different FTP clients, but it never works. In Smart FTP, I get this:

[17:36:45] 200 NOOP command successful.
[17:37:13] 421 Timeout (60 seconds): closing control connection.
[17:37:13] An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
[17:37:13] Client closed the connection.

Anyone want to help me out? I have no idea why it won't work...

I was looking for a couple of files to install linux to my original Xbox. I could not find them ANYWHERE but I finally found a torrent with a couple seeders so I got 'em. Thanks anyway. ;)[br]Posted on: December 04, 2008, 09:59:15 PM________________________________________________ _I unlocked this because I am once again trying to download something with FTP. This time I am trying to download XBMC (Xbox Media Center) and once again can't find it anywhere except this FTP server. Any advice?

Open Internet Explorer. In address bar type
ftp://USERNAME:PASSWORD@IPADDRESS
replace caps with correct info. IPADDRESS can also be a domain name.
Hit Enter.
Drag and drop the files you need.
If it doesn't work then most likely you do not have the correct user name and password.
If the file is large and times out halfway through the download then you need to use something more advanced than IE. Try FlashFXP in that case.
