I know EVG is about 50/50 for canadians to americans, but I would assume from the looks of it it's more americans here.

The rules are you have to vote before the results apear because I have had too many troubles with people posting instead of voting, so for curiosities sake where are you from?

I was born in Canada and have always lived here :)

i.e. If you were born in Calgary, Halifax, etc. your from Canada
i.e. If you were born in New york, California, etc. Then you are from the U.S of A.

About nationality, what if someone is born in russia but leaves there at around three years old. They live the rest of thier life in the US. Wouldn't it be fair to say they are American? I think some people would be insulted by being called russian in that situation. Just saying.

Also it's not duel it's dual in this case. Duel is to fight, dual is two.

Btw, I know my example about military bases wasn't great, I was just pointing out that there's always exceptions to every rule.

why? if you born there you are russian you may like it or not but you are still russian
also if you live there since 3 years you officialy have american nationality
in that case you just have double-nationality wich means more adventages for you ( you can request a european passaport and travel all around europe)

I just think it's stupid to call someone who's obviously not russian, a russian(in this example). Someone who's born in russia and lives there the entire time is gonna be a lot different than someone who was born there and moved soon after.
I understand legally people are labeled by where they are physically born but it just seems silly to me.

Btw I understood what you meant about dual citizenship. The problem is some countries don't recognize it and then the system breaks down. For example in Iran you are always an Iranian citizen. It doesn't matter where move and for how long. It's a bad example because they're crazy but it makes my point either way.

Kong

Ok but maybe you should've named the topic that. Not to throw out definitions but I have to,

3 a: national (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/national) status ; specifically : a legal relationship involving allegiance on the part of an individual and usually protection on the part of the state b: membership in a particular nation (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nation)

5 a: a people having a common origin, tradition, and language and capable of forming or actually constituting a nation-state b: an ethnic group constituting one element of a larger unit

nationality - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nationality)

It is your topic so it's up to you, I just don't agree with your definition. Birth is only one part of it.

Just playing with the South Park joke on how to identify a Canadian.

The way I see it:
depicting Canadians with floppy heads is a compliment, since if it actually were so it would likely mean our brains were too big for our skulls.
Eventually we will start to look like this:

http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/memoryalpha/en/images/thumb/9/94/Talosian-2nd,_the_cage.jpg/180px-Talosian-2nd,_the_cage.jpg

Yes, but total amalgamation of all cultures on a global scale would be
BORING, and although it would do away with the threat of the dreaded
politically correct greeting protocol procedure:

'Before I greet you, I would like to apologize if greetings offend your race/religion/culture....'

Even though that would be a good thing, any diversity and heritage left in the world may be gone with it.
That would be unacceptable.
UNACCEPTABLE!

Well if those are my choices I'd probably pick Venutian. I hear Venus might be habitable, can't say the same for the others.

Actually I looked up Venus and I was a little off, it's highly unlikely that we'd be able to colonize unless we built Cloud City. Saturn might be better or more accurately it's moon Titan.

Uranials, even if we can somehow change the atmosphere to a livible place to live in, it would still be a great sightseeing place (And I am NOT making a "uranus" joke, in this case I would have said "looking up and down uranus")

You should watch the movie 'THX 1138' to get a glimpse of what one world with no borders could become.

Just so we're clear I am well aware of how cool Canada is. It's on my short list of countries I like and respect. I've only been there once but I've met a lot of Canadians from living close to them.

That being said they still only have that one road. Notice how JG didn't show a second street? We need to see an intersection to be sure!
What looks like sidestreets to us Americans is actually just driveways. Why do they have street lights when the road never intersects? Who knows, they're Canadians(and french!).

On the left hand side of the pic we see a car turning right from Kingsway onto Main (by the yellow signs)
Near the center of the pic by the clock we see a large white truck starting to turn from Main onto Kingsway with a dark minivan behind it with its signal light on.
They have a turn signal directly above them indicating OK to turn onto Kingsway.

Who knows, they're Canadians(and french!).

I extend apologies to both Kong and Tenser
and I hope this post explains my point of view regarding racism adequately to prevent misunderstandings in the future.

I have mixed heritage, meaning that I have both European and Aboriginal Canadian DNA.
My people are commonly known as the METIS.
(pronounced may-tee)

Being of a 'mixed race', I have always been confused by the whole race 'war' (as I have heard it called) which to me is:

That thing which makes people agitated if they perceive what you say as somehow being racist.
I believe the heart of this statement lay in
'if they perceive', and in this instance my own perceptions caused a bit of a stir.

While I was perceiving one person's comment as implying someone else's post was being racist and trying to point that out, I myself ended up being thought of by yet another person as being racist.
http://bennyjr.com/docbrown.jpg
GREAT SCOTT!
Please wait one second.
I already said that I am of a mixed race, and attempt to think of all you reading this as being the same.
In other words, I believe there to be only one race
- The Human Race.

In the future anyone should perceive my comments or posts as being racist, please consider how this would be impossible for me right from the genetic level.
I oppose racism.
At the same time, I do not believe Humanity should have to 'walk around on eggshells' either, and that living 100% PC doesn't seem Humanly possible.
