The only game I care about is Tennessee-Detroit. I hope Detroit wins.

I'll also be rooting for Seattle just because I hate Dallas.

I'm eagerly awaiting kickoff for the debacle that is going to be Arizona vs. Philadelphia. I guess I should have known the minute after the Phillies won the World Series that the Eagles' season was doomed.

Here's some points I want to make:
1)Donovan's getting benched tonight. Cardinals win.
2)I hate the Cowboys too, but let's be realistic here.
3)I thought going into the NFL season the Lions would be the same medicore team they always was. Boy, was I wrong. I feel sorry for them.
4)West Virgina vs. Pittsburgh (I think it's tonight) is what I'll be keeping my eye on. Go, Mountaineers!

Okay. Rant over. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Come on tenser the dallas game was great it was a game that pitted a great team (dallas) v. a team that had no chance (seattle). I knew that they had it locked when dallas had the touchdown in the first quarter and it was not a big issue for them to get it either. ;D

I would guess that this year's Thanksgiving games received pretty low ratings compared to previous years.

As long as the Cowgirls lose next weekend, I'm okay.

As for this weekend, the Cheatriots need to go down:

The only reason anyone ever talks about that is becuase they're good. I know its not right, but isn't that pretty common in football? What would everyone say if it happened to be the Lions that got caught instead? Nothing because the Lions suck.

@TNT: Its the question on whether they won those three SBs fair and square or not. Let me quote the NPC blog:
For maintaining competitiveness and working through adversity, head coach Bill Belichick deserves a great deal of credit. Whether this coaching tour de force is enough to erase the taint of Spygate is another thing.

If there’s one lesson to be learned from the Spygate fiasco, it’s that Bill Belichick is a complete bullshit artist. For years Belichick went out of his way to mention how much he loved the game and respected the sport, his fellow coaches, and the players. Yet the scandal put a sizeable dent in the game’s integrity and Belichick’s wrath at actually being accused of cheating (which he most definitely did) led to the Patriots disrespectfully running up the score on teams throughout the season. The lesson was that Bill Belichick did have a great deal of respect for the game…as long as he was its unquestioned genius.

@Cameron: The CFL, while entertaining (Go Montreal!) is no where near on the same playing level as the NFL.

I think Canada invented Basketball not football.

I also think The Cowboys and Lions get to pick easy teams on Thanksgiving kind of like High School Home Coming games. I heard that years ago.

I don't know much about sports though.

Happy thanks giving.

Untrue. The Lions have the worst record in the NFL and had to play the Titans who are tied for the best record in the NFL.

@tenser- If all the other teams had been cheating too, then that wouldn't really put the Patriots at that much of an advantage. I'm not saying its right, but other teams do it too. The Patriots are a good team. I'm sure that they haven't been winning just because of that.

@kong- if that's true about the lions, then the people in charge here are even dumber than I thought :)

Dr. James Naismith was Canadian? He was a professor at Kansas.

James A. Naismith (November 6, 1861 as James Naismith[1]– November 28, 1939) was a Canadian sports coach and innovator. Naismith invented the sport of "Basket Ball" in 1891 and is often credited with introducing the first football helmet.

There's our difference. I have stated before, if it was the Steelers, I would expect Mr. Rooney (Steeler's owner) to immediatly end any contracts of those who were linked to it. If he didn't, I would no longer be a Steeler fan.

I'm sorry, but that's how I've always been in any game I play. I can not stand a cheater. Example: If I ever found out a member of G.O.M. cheated in a contest, it would come down to them or me, one of us would be leaving the team. I hate cheating and will not tolerate it.

Stupid Flanders
11-29-2008, 01:54 PM
People get mad over things that other people don't deserve. If the lions cheated, people would be upset, and i'm sure people would call them out for it. But no one would be mad about it because they obviously haven't gained anything from it. People are mad because the patriots may have cheated and gotten huge advantages from it. But that's the only reason, since it's very likely other teams cheat; to point out a flaw of someone isn't that big of a deal, since everyone has flaws. So calling out on the patriots is just an expression of frustration, since they cheated and got to be a good team, instead of other teams who cheated and still lost... everybody hates the best.

Kugyince
11-29-2008, 02:15 PM
So you guys are claiming that the only reason people are upset is because they won while cheating? I find your views are very skewed.

Hypothetical: What if I had cheated in the Bullrush contest we just had? I didn't win so I guess it wouldn't be that big of a deal, right?

By the last posts by Flanders and TNT I have come away with three statements:
1. Cheating is okay if most of the people are doing it.
2. Cheating can be overlooked if you didn't win.
3. If you did win, cheating is still okay as long as you don't get caught.

I'm sorry, but I wasn't raised to believe that. I will not raise my son to believe that either. We watch the Steelers games together (quality time with the old man and all). At his age, he's like a sponge. I could not cheer for a team that even admitted to cheating one moment and then the next tell my son how its wrong to cheat.

Stupid Flanders
11-29-2008, 02:22 PM
I'm sorry. Perhaps I was vague. I don't condone cheating. I was just pointing out the fact that most people feel the ways that you listed, especially in competitive environments. All that I am advocating is that people have tendencies to lean towards the views that you've listed.

I guess I see what you're saying. I know that just becuase everyone else is doing it doesn't make it right. And it wouldn't be right if you didn't gain anything from it either. I guess I just think that all of the focus shouldn't be on just the people/teams who gained from it, but that's kind of the media's fault. Look at how many MLB players took steroids in the 90's and still do, but all you ever really hear about are the ones who broke all the records.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not some crazy nut who wants to take NE's SB wins away or anything. I do think Belichick should have been fired though. I've lost respect for Roger Goodell and Robert Kraft for not doing so. I am also confused why NE fans were not clamoring for him to be removed.

And yes, I really hate the Patriots. But that's because they've taken away two SB trips from us. The cheating just makes me feel sorry for the NE fans because that's who it hurt the most. That and the game's integrity.

I think that tenser brings up a good point there from before,(with the bullrush thing) with a contest or a high score cheating is unacceptable no matter what. If you are playing a game for fun without getting anything for it such as playing NES games in full, lite modes then cheat away, but if it is for a contest or score you do not cheat or farm a game at all.
