I used all caps because this movie deserves the attention.
I won't spoil it for people but seriously, GO SEE THIS MOVIE. Even if you're not a batman fan this movie should still impress you. Heath Ledgers performance was simply awesome. I don't say that because he died after making the movie, he was honestly awesome.
It's so awesome that now I don't like the Michael Keaton batman movies. Jack Nicholson as the joker was good back then but now it looks like crap compared to Ledgers version. This is from a guy who hated ledgers movies up until now. Well Brothers Grimm wasn't too bad.
Please only vote after you've seen the movie since it will matter.

simply put with out ruining anything
heath played the joker the best out of all of them
jack nicklson's character for the joker was the best by far though
and yes there is a difference

Yeah it's not much of a spoiler since Harvey Dent is listed in the movie. As long as no one goes into details it's cool.
And I meant I didn't like A knights tale and BrokeBack Mountain(yeah I watched it :-[), ect, I don't think he's a bad actor in those movies I just didn't like most of his movies.

Just the beard did? Seriously, I thought Brokeback Mountain was a good movie. ???
From what I've heard and seen of Batman, the movie seems like just all flash and cinematics. I'm not into all the special effects and Hollywood glitz. I didn't like the first Batman or read comics so my opinions a bit skewed. It just seems like another crappy superhero movie to me. :-\

well tenser its acctually not really all that bad
I am not into the hyper of all the special CG but this movie did it very well there were action scenes but not many of them
most of the movie seemed to just be good diolauge
also with twoface I thought that they were setting it up for a second movie because about half way through the movie I was like this move has to be ending because the plot is picking up but no it just kept going.
the second half of the movie is way better.

Most of the movies I go out to see are at the drive-ins. Its nice because the truck has two bench seats so the boy has the entire back to himself. By the time the first movie ends he's passed out and the wife and I can get a bit more comfortable with the front to ourselves during the second movie.
The last two we went to see were Kung-Fu Panda and Indiana Jones 4. I thought KFP was fun and the boy liked it. I was bored with IJ4 but I don't care. I just like the idea of relaxing and spending time with the family.
The last movie that I seen that I really liked was Gloomy Sunday and that was about a year ago. :P
{OOC: You mauled the hell out of the word "dialogue" there. :P

I just saw it last night, Ledger played the sado-masochistic role extremely well, It wasn't quite as dark as the comic verion of "The Dark Knight" but that was a little different story. Anyway, this movie adaptation was one of the few Batman movies i liked, lol one of the few new movies i liked. I thought it was amazing, If the third one is as good as these 2 have been I'm definatly going to see them in theaters, to bad Ledger OD'ed. but yeah, I was actually going to start a recommened thread about it until i logged on and saw this. Great movies, in all aspects

If they continue the series more with the current cast then it's only a matter of time before we see Penguin. If anything he'd be the best choice for the next one. He's a big name like joker, everyones heard of him. And he's a wierdo character. Perfect. Not to mention people would wanna see who can fill Danny Devitos' shoes. Btw I forgot to mention, I love DeVito as Penguin. ;D

No, the first couple ones with Micheal Keaton were good. After that they just wanted to make money off the first twos success. That's why they reinvented it with Batman Begins, the clooney/kilmer ones turned off alot of fans.

OK, I just got home from finally seeing this movie. I was a skeptical, and I am pretty sure I have higher standards than everyone on this forum (except maybe Tenser by the sound of it). I am a movie snob, and I will argue about movies for the rest of my life, even with people with a similar taste than me.
I will first address this statement: "OMG HEATH LEDGER IS THA BESTEST JOKER EVER!!!"
Yep. Heath Ledger was spot on and I, for one, couldn't believe it. Fantastic performance.
This movie was fantastic in its own right. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it had very few shortcomings (one of them being Aaron Eckhart, but only in a few places).
I prefer my Christian Bale to be Patrick Bateman any day.
I liked the film a lot and Tenser, I would recommend it even to you. Unless you completely hate the genre, you will probably like it.

the best batman has to be...... ADAM WEST
I do like Adam West alot. But his Batman wasn't the same thing. I mean cmon, in one episode he had a giant cartoon bomb(the big round ones with a wick) and he couldn't find a place to throw it. First it was a baby carriage(I think) then a school of ducks in the water, I forget where he tossed it. Wish it was at Robin.
Oh and let's not forget when he was climbing up a ladder on a moving helicopter. Then a shark bites his leg and holds on. What's he do? Shark repellant! ::)
Don't get me wrong, 60s batman is funny as hell. But it's not on the same level as the recent movies.

I'm the same way. I'm very critical of movies/video games/books. It has to really impress me before I'll recommend it to anyone.
I will first address this statement: "OMG HEATH LEDGER IS THA BESTEST JOKER EVER!!!"
Yep. Heath Ledger was spot on and I, for one, couldn't believe it. Fantastic performance.
I know right? I couldn't believe it either. Wasn't expecting such an effort from him. Really too bad he died, I would've liked to see him again as joker. Gonna be hard to ever beat his performance now.
See I wasnt around during the time they aired it, so ive watched reruns on TVland and it was good. Don't dis West Dudebro, if he was at his age again he would kick ass in there movies.

Yeah well I may be old but at least I posted pics to show how handsome I am.
Btw, I've been reading rumors that Riddler really might be in the next movie. Seems one of the minor characters had a similar name to the Riddlers real name. I doubt they did it by accident.
Also one character seemed like she could turn into Harlequinn.
Next part might be minor spoilers.
I'm convinced Commissioner Gordons son is gonna be either Robin or a badguy I can't think of atm also. He's worships Batman alot. They make a point of pointing that out. I'm thinking towards the end, the part with Two Face.

Well, thats what I mean. If Harley is in the next movie, so is the Joker.
I can't wait until she swings her mallet. xD
But, we forgot a few Batman villains. Bane, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, Penguin, they should all return, maybe even Toyman.

People everywhere are completely raving about this movie. I have to go see it, even though I'm sure I'll be disappointed.
Just to clarify this, due to great reviews, I'm going to have very high expectations for it when I finally see it, and I think it's likely that it might not live up to them.

I highly doubt that. Robin has to be named, Either Dick Grayson(most likely), Jason Todd, or Tim Drake, considering the next movie follows the comics. Anyone can worship Batman, really. Gordon's son is way too young to ever grow up to be Robin next to Bruce Wayne's side. Wayne would probably be like 45, before Gordon's son grows up to be a teenager. I think the kid is just a minor character, hardly significant to the Batman's story.

My $.02 (some of which may be rehash... didn't read all 7 pages):
1- Ever since I heard (could be apocryphal) that Ledger spent a month in total isolation in his apartment trying to "get into character" for the Joker, I've been stoked about the potential results. I was also a bit skeptical about the near-deification of his role; seemed like people were over-glorifying the spot because Ledger died. As has been said, though, I was wrong... Ledger was the most gloriously, beautifully twisted character I could have imagined. Insane yet measured, masochistic at times, and just CREEPY in his use of logic and philosophy.
For that reason alone, I hope they do not reprise his role, at least in the current series. Let the demise of the role be an honor to the man who gave it more life than we could have imagined. I WILL say, I was impressed with the (quite good) reprisal of Rachel's role by a different actress; with the Joker, though, seems like there's a TON more potential for disappointment (plus, Katie Holmes isn't dead; that changes the situation quite a bit).
2- I thought Eckhart (contrary to some opinions) played his role beautifully. The hospital scene... (no spoiler); you can almost FEEL the conflict between good and evil going on there.
3- A couple minor disappointments; no movie is void of them. But all in all, rather glorious a film (though I really wouldn't want my hypothetical child to see it before about age 14/15).
4- And I agree with PFL; seems like they'd have to go the Dick Grayson route. Though after the abysmal failure that the LAST Robin was, I dunno how quick they're gonna be to reprise that role (though, Bale managed to salvage Batman himself from the wretched Clooney).
Final note: I'd say that Christian Bale was equaled or outmatched by several people in the movie. And that is no insult to Bale; the movie was that well-cast and powerfully-executed. Yeah, it's like that 8)

I don't know a whole lot about the characters backstories from the comics but I think this movie purposely added minor characters so they can become goodguys/badguys in the next movies.

They paid off the people to take films of the training camps, and I don't doubt other teams have done or are doing it.

Spygate turned out to be much ado about nothing. The Patriots were caught illegally filming the hand signals of oppossing players and coaches. It is highly unlikely that the Rams' walkthrough before Super Bowl XXXVI was ever actually filmed and no tape of it ever surfaced.
I don't know where you are getting your information from. I have not read or watched anything concerning paying "people" off to take films of training camps. The only evidence outside of the Patriots' video assistant being caught filming against the Jets in 2007 is the tapes that Matt Walsh submitted to the NFL and they were from several games during the 2000 - '02 seasons.

We really talking about the supposed Pats cheating thing now? GET OVER IT. The only reason it was made to be such a big deal is because the Pats are/were Dominating and everyone else was being crybabies about it. Like you said Tails..
and I don't doubt other teams have done or are doing it.
So why single out the Pats? Oh that's right, because the media made a huge stink about it.
Is anyone really doubting how good the players were/are on the Pats? If so that's just sour grapes.
About the supposed movie pay offs. This is so ridiculous it's almost funny. I say almost because spreading that kind of rumor is bad, someone might think it's a known fact.
Movies get reviewed by critics and yeah, maybe some critics have an agenda so they'll be overly positive or negative but in general if a movie has good reviews it's because it's good. Besides, if you listen to critics opinions rather than form your own then you are already failing at life.
This doesn't just apply to movies, if you listen to critics opinions about food/games/ect then you're doing it wrong.
Sorry to let this bother me so much but this is how I feel.

I feel differently. I don't feel cheating is something you should just push aside or say "well everyone's doing it." That is not how I was raised nor how I wish to raise my son.
I am a psychotic Steelers fan, but if they were caught cheating one of two things would have to happen.
Dan Rooney (owner) would have to immediately release any coaches and/or players that benefited from cheating.
-or-
I would no longer be a fan. Simple.
And yes, I do doubt Brady's abilities. I doubted them before, and I doubt them even more now.

I don't think cheating should be just pushed aside either. My point was people made such a huge stink over the Pats supposedly cheating but they barely talk about any other teams doing it. I remember hearing this isn't the first time a team has done this kind of thing. I could be wrong because I couldn't stand hearing about this 24/7(when it was more recent) so I didn't pay attention to alot of it.
And yes, I do doubt Brady's abilities. I doubted them before, and I doubt them even more now.
Let me just say first, I'm not a sports fan. I watch it off and on and I do like Football/Baseball. I've watched plenty of Pats games and I'll agree with you sorta. Brady is a good QB, really can't say he isn't. But he's not the best I've ever seen. I think the Pats recent team has been good overall. The QB isn't out there by himself after all.
From my point of view Brady is shown to be the main person on the team. I see this all the time where I live since Mass is a huge Pats state. The rest of the guys on the team are left behind. This is one of the things I hate about Pro Sports.
But, this is a BATMAN topic. The title is even in Caps so we don't forget it. Let's try to steer this back in the right direction.
Maggie Gyllenhaal, is it just me or does she have a droopy face? She's not ugly really just kind odd looking.

Depp should be good as Riddler, even though I'd rather have Jim Carrey reprise his role. Also that link told me something I didn't know, Philip Seymor Hoffman might be Penguin. I wish Danny Devito could reprise his role too. Hope Hoffman doesn't suck.
The other rumor is Angelina Jolie might be Catwoman. I really hope they don't do that.
