No-cd Patch Help

I recently installed a bunch of my PC games I have lying around. I have quite a few, and I don't like constantly swaping discs. I installed Titan Quest and ran it, and it ran fine with the disc in. I then searched for a no-cd patch, which brought to website that had a list of them for Titan Quest. I had no idea the difference, so I got the one at the bottom of the page that I guess was the newest. It didn't work, I got some weird error. I tried probably 4 different ones, and none worked. There were about 12 total on the page. They all had different versions and stuff.

Does anyone know how I go about getting the right one? Or maybe the website just doesn't supply good ones?

I'm not sure I've ever heard of a REAL no-cd patch, but that doesn't mean they don't exist, but I would go with give up and just use the disc :( sorry dude

They exist all over the place. Kong actually just e-mailed me on that works, so it's all figured out now.

I downloaded it via a torrent and emailed it to him. No-CD-patches contain viruses too often for us to allow links to them or attach them to posts. Plus they might be illegal. I am not sure. Anyways, use google. They link to everything.

I don't think they are illegal. It is a somewhat shady business trying to get them.

I had found them for all of my games except Titan Quest, and I was having an issue with that one. They aren't incredibly hard to find, but I did get a virus going through 'em. Good thing I have good virus software.

They are illegal unless distributed by the software publisher themselves, which almost never happens. They're illegal because they're cracking copyrighted closed-source software without the publisher's permission. From what I know though, no one's ever tracked down for using them, and they're quite prevalent. If I was to get a no-cd crack for software I have *wink wink*, I would use bit torrent. I also highly recommend downloading a program called Bit Che; it's basically google for torrents. The cracks listed in a Bit Che results page typically have links you can click to see comments from other people on whether they think the file is legit or not. From my experience it's a pretty good indicator of quality. For some of them you might also need WinRAR or PowerIso to extract the files from an .iso or .rar to use them. I happen to know that a cracked version of PowerIso is available in a torrent (I think WinRAR was freeware, but might've been torrent crack as well).

I would not think that hacking copyrighted software is illegal though the copyrighters would like it to be

because if you own it you have the right to do what you want with it its when you sell it for profit

this nopatch has the potential to be illegal simply because you could play the game with out buying it.

its just like modding your Xbox its not illegal because its yours but Xbox does not like it so if they see you online with a mod they ban you.

I read it somewhere in the reverse copyright law something like reverse hacking I forgot where I read it
