During this year's Yolympics, there were a few games that weren't playable at RU because of the ROM variation (tourney used MAME .106 and/or .181). New Rally-X and Trog were a couple of examples. Is there a way we can swap out ROM versions just for tourneys, so more games could be playable here? A couple of players in particular wanted to play at RU (one because his cab starting smoking and burning). It'd be nice to have this in place when the IGBY tourney starts this summer.
I also brought up having a "Tournament" settings option for launching a game that disables pauses and fast-forwards. That's not as big a deal - a mod can see that info.
I also brought up having a "Tournament" settings option for launching a game that disables pauses and fast-forwards. The old beta does that. Should probably change the name of it to "Tournament Mode" just so there is no confusion with the new beta. It is just as stable, if not more so than the default version on site and in score mode Fast Forward and Pause are disabled.
@Swapping ROMs. Honestly, I don't remember. Some ROMs can't be swapped but I don't remember what the limits are. Would just have to try swapping one and see.
Ideally the new Beta would be complete before the next contest but probably unlikely. When is next contest?

For the TG tournament site, right now Puzzle Madness 2 is happening, and the next one is retro nintendo online open #2, which has yet to be announced.

I think the next big coin-op contest is June/July. The Nintendo Retro open is coming in between, but almost all of those are always playable here. It's the MAME ROM variants that become a nuisance.
Thanks for the info on switching to the old Beta. I always forget about that.
