Seeing as I am counting down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until this movie comes out, I thought I might create a thread to see if anyone else here is looking forward to this movie as well.

I have been a huge Ghost Rider (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_Rider_%28comics%29) fan ever since the first issue of the 90's run (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_Rider_%28Daniel_Ketch%29) of the comic book. Ever since Marvel restructured after their bankruptcy, ol' Ghostie has been fairly under-appreciated, so I am glad to see that he is getting a chance to join the other Marvel greats in the land of motion pictures.
I will be sure to provide a review of the film once I've seen it on Friday, the 16th.

Why's his skull so misshapen?
Tekkaman
02-14-2007, 11:35 AM
Believe it or not, Ghost Rider's head is actually a digital representation of Nicholas Cage's real skull. They made moldings of his teeth and x-ray scans of his skull and used them to render a fairly true to life version of Nicholas Cage's skull as Ghost Rider's head. So, if you think that Ghostie's head is misshaped, then it's only because of Nic's own misshapen skull.

Well he does have a weird head, Cage that is. It's kind of long.

I don't know...in Face Off, it looks kind of normal with no flesh on it...
not that I have much experience with skinless faces.

But with flesh, he has an strange head, and a long nose might add.

Well, I saw the movie on Friday evening, and I enjoyed it very much.
I will say that this is a movie that was kinda made for fans of the comic book. The origin of the character was somewhat rushed in order to get into the action as soon as possible. As a fan of the character, I had no problem with that, but someone who doesn't know this character might feel a bit confused.
The special effects were amazing. Ghost Rider looks and sounds exactly like I would have imagined him to. The transformation sequence was incredibly realistic and very well executed. There really wasn't a point in the movie that I was like "Ah, that's so fake."
On the negative side, there were four villains for Ghost Rider to have to deal with. With only 2 hours to do so, battles that could have been quite dramatic and epic simply feel effortless and anti-climactic. It would have been much better if they had limited it to one or two baddies.
Overall, it is definitely worth watching at least once. Fans of the comic will definitely get more out of the story, but everyone else will at least get a thrill from the effects and get a taste of a character that usually doesn't get the same kind of appreciation and recognition as characters like Spider-Man and the X-Men.
I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. A pretty good score as far as comic book movies go.

Boo, Nicholas Cage!
I might care if anyone but him were the star.

There's so much Nicholas Cage bashing being directed at this movie. Plenty of the "bad reviews" for this film having nothing to say but cheap jabs at Nic's accent or just Nic in general. Isn't the point of movie reviews to...review the movie? I just don't get it.

Well yes and no. One of the most important parts of any movie is the acting. The story and the acting make or break the movie for the most part.
Then again, I never tend to hold much stock in what a critic states.

I haven't read a review about it. I just don't like Nicholas Cage. I won't watch a movie with him in it unless it looks REEEEEAAAAAALLLLLLLYYY good despite him.
Though I hear Adaptation is good.
This movie was horrible. I did not enjoy it.

Yeah I agree Joz it was pretty bad. Even smoking hot Eva Mendes couldn't save it.

@Brawl- In case you aren't aware we actually don't mind necrobumping on RU. If the topic still has some life in it then fire away.

Don't worry it's an understandable mistake, most forums frown heavily on necroing.
See the movie if you can watch it free, otherwise don't bother. But if you're a Nick Cage fan go for it, he's his usual character in this movie.
Why is necroing a bad thing?
Dudebro
06-15-2011, 02:49 PM
Lots of websites hate it because most times people do it for stupid reasons. When it's done because the user is post farming or just trolling it's annoying(we aren't cool with that either btw). We don't mind necro posting as long as it's contributing in some way, like making fun of Nick Cage.
Plus this one is good because it might make Tenser cry, because of his Tekkaman crush.
I see. Raising Arizona was good though.

Yeah he's not bad in everything he's done. I just find him to be overrated and annoying.
Btw no comment about Eva? I know it's early in the day still but come on man!

The only reason why he's in movies is because he's a Coppola.

+1 SFF. All this time I never knew that about him. But to be fair he did change his name at a very young age to avoid that kind of criticism. He didn't want to be seen as getting a free ride from his uncle.
I also didn't know he took the last name Cage because of the Marvel Character Luke Cage, that's pretty cool.

As to Ghost Rider, it was mediocre at best.

Well, it has been said that a lot of people will perceive facial expressions differently. It interestingly enough even goes back to left/right handedness.
