Hi, I'm Kevo. It's nice to see that Retro Uprising is still around. Over the past few years, I've watched a lot of sites just ... disappear into thin air. RU is one of the first gaming-related communities I ever visited back in 2007 I believe. I could have sworn it was called something different, however. Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't recall for sure.

If I told you my Mii used to wear lipstick, some of you may know who I am. Man, I think this is my third account here -- my apologies for that. I'm not really sure what my previous accounts were named.

So, yeah, it's me. But don't worry, I'm not here to steal any members or cause any issues. I came here to talk to another member, but I did want to at least introduce myself. Who knows, I may even come here from time to time. I heard you guys have movie nights with free popcorn or something.

I see Dudebro has developed a bad case of acne and Winnebagel, who I don't know, is celebrating a birthday today. Happy birthday to him/her. I also see that Kong is still king and Tenser still reigns as the oldest member in the community. I'm pretty sure he does, anyway.

So, I'll probably pop in from time to time to check things out or play a game or two since my life has become a bit more predictable and routine.

See you around...

Thanks, man. It's more of a love/hate relationship. I do love my wife, however.

Welcome back! i may or may not have known you lol (i was a very early member)

Thanks, KATZ. Hmm, I don't ever remember talking to you specifically until right now. How long have you been here? Where are you from?

He is our Lord and Savior. Truly a God among mortals.

You must know him. Are the two of you related?

Hi Kevo, and welcome {back} to RetroUprising, the best site on the net~!

Why do you now have 3 different accounts here?
What were your previous usernames?

Are you ashamed of your behavior during your previous visits:-[, and are now attempting to distance yourself from those misdeeds by creating yet another account???

I find you highly suspicious.
I'll be watching you~!

Apologies for the delay, everyone. I was out of town for the past five days.

I've only heard of his great deeds in whispers.

Were they at least sweet nothings?

Yeah I hear ya, that WiiU was a big let down.

A big let down? That's a broad statement. In what ways exactly? I mean, it's definitely not my favorite Nintendo console, but I did find quite a bit of enjoyment in a number of games.

Yo.

Hi, Steven. Good to see you again!

i was around when the site first opened (i was absent for a few years)

Huh. Did you have the same user name?

Thanks for the warm welcome, Joe.

In my opening post, I said "I'm not really sure what my previous accounts were named."

So, I'm not really sure if you are trolling or just pulling my leg. Either way, it's fine.

I have nothing to hide expect the lipstick Mii, but that's already been referenced.

Bingo! I wouldn't have remembered that in a million years, man.

Dudebro
10-27-2015, 04:07 PM
In what ways exactly?
Well mainly in the way it didn't motivate me to even consider getting it. With the exception of mobile and virtual boy I think I've owned every Nintendo console except the U. It seemed like the only appeal was more of the same Mario, Zelda and kids games. To be fair though I didn't feel motivated to buy the other two current gen ones but they at least tempted me.

I think you mean EVG.
That wasn't RU though. RU used to be called OnVGP or something like that. It was slightly before my time, back when RU was very boring. But you're right about EVG being his first gaming site.

It seemed like the only appeal was more of the same Mario, Zelda and kids games.

But isn't that what makes Nintendo so fun -- Mario, Zelda, etc? There's also some pretty amazing indie games exclusive to Wii U as well. What games have you played?

Not for me anymore. I haven't played a Zelda game since N64. I like the series I'm just not into that genre(whatever it is). I've played most of the main Mario games but I never got into them really, not that into platformers either. I only play them when someone else wants to do some local coop. As for the ect games, Metroid and DK? Same.

With the U it just seemed like the only thing to get it for is Mario and Zelda. I got Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and Smash Bros on 3DS so there just isn't much for me. What are the exclusive indie games?

In what ways did the previous gen consoles motivate you?
PreWii - I was interested in the games it had.
Wii- It had fun coop games and we decided to get it cheap on black friday. After the honeymoon wore off I didn't find much to play on it though.

I don't mean to derail your welcome back topic with Nintendo bashing I was just giving you a hard time. I'm not a fan anymore but I hope Nintendo keeps trying because the console industry will get even staler if it's just down to the other two.

Not for me anymore.

Fair enough.

I got Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and Smash Bros on 3DS so there just isn't much for me. What are the exclusive indie games?

I don't mind Mario Kart, but I've become quite bored with Animal Crossing and Smash Bros. 3DS. Some of the better indie exclusives include: Affordable Space Adventures, Fast Racing NEO (December 2015), Runbow, and Typoman (2015). And wow, I guess there aren't as many Wii U exclusive indie titles as I thought. Have you played Splatoon?

I don't mean to derail your welcome back topic with Nintendo bashing I was just giving you a hard time.

Derailing never even crossed my mind. I used to be such as jackass on the Nintendo-Daily and Nintendo Nerds forums -- "Stick to the topic!" kind of thing. Ha! I've learned that veering off topic a bit is actually healthy. Like, I would have never learned all the stuff in this thread if I hadn't asked, or if people didn't voluntarily offer it.

It was a better place when it was just me.

What do you mean?

yep, same name since EVG from waaaay back in 2005

Well, I'm convinced I don't remember you. I don't think I'll forget about you this time, however! :)

I've become quite bored with Animal Crossing and Smash Bros. 3DS.
Me too. I really like the ideas behind AC but with each new game it just feels like more of the same with very little in the way of innovation. I regret buying Smash because I was already burned out on fighting games and it did nothing to change that. I was hoping the simplistic(relatively) gameplay would help me over come my distaste for the genre but it didn't work. To be fair though I might've enjoyed it more if the screen wasn't so tiny, my old eyes just can't handle it I think.

Affordable Space Adventures, Fast Racing NEO (December 2015), Runbow, and Typoman (2015).
I don't know how to reply to this without sounding snarky but I'm really not trying to be.
1. Looks beautiful but doesn't look particularly unique, besides the controls.
2. Is this not a sequel to F-Zero? It sure seemed like it when I watched some gameplay.
3. This looks almost exactly like an indie game I saw on Steam but with different artwork and colors. If I find the game I'll link it.
4. Looks like something I'd get on Steam but then never finish because platforming.

I'm probably spoiled by the enormous and vibrant indie scene on PC though.

I've learned that veering off topic a bit is actually healthy
I've always thought that too but over the years I realized that I tend to cause major derails and sometimes that ruins topics. I don't wanna be a ruiner.

I'm convinced I don't remember you.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. There was only like 4-5 people on EVG and only like 2-3 ever posted on RU. Not counting Kong and Tenser because I don't wanna.

Kugyince
10-28-2015, 07:01 PM
Well, to be fair, Animal Crossing is boring. It's like a tenth the game Harvest Moon is and neither could hold a candle to the Rune Factory series.

Dudebro
10-28-2015, 08:24 PM
I tried to get into HM but for some reason it just really bored me. It seems like the type of game I'd be into and I have no clue why it didn't click with me.

Now that I think of it I might've gave up on AC long ago if not for Gyroids. This most recent one really downplayed them and I was a lot less interested in the game, can't be a coincidence.

Slime Slayer
10-28-2015, 09:41 PM
Animal Crossing was something special when it first came out, simply because that type of game didn't exist. It was new, cute and neat. Nowadays I don't see what people like, maybe small children who just like the cause and reaction of the various stuff you can do farting around town. HM bored me too, even the one with the dungeon and weapons and stuff. Rune Factory I think I'd like, is that the one with amazing amounts of content? Or is that Etrian Odyssey?

Definitely this. It's the same rehashed stuff over and over. And people, for some reason, eat it up. Weird.

2. Is this not a sequel to F-Zero? It sure seemed like it when I watched some gameplay.

I'm probably spoiled by the enormous and vibrant indie scene on PC though.

Yeah, pretty much. I don't know if Nintendo plans on reviving F-Zero or not, but it just feels like a spiritual successor. The devs are Shin'en and they're one of the better studios out there.

I've always thought that too but over the years I realized that I tend to cause major derails and sometimes that ruins topics. I don't wanna be a ruiner.

Well you don't have to worry about me thinking that in this thread. I'm quite enjoying the conversation, so to speak. It's good to see you and the others again.

Speaking of which, where's sabby and count?

I can understand why, I'm one of those people. For me it's because I like the series a lot and I just hope the next one will impress me like the first one did. I might not be so naive next time though.

Speaking of which, where's sabby and count?
Both pop in from time to time but honestly I thought you saw them more we do. Oh and Count is my friend on FB so I "see" him pretty regularly. He's the same old happy bro he's always been. And corny.

I guess I should have elaborated a bit. While I do feel the series is getting milked, it's still enjoyable. It's rare for me, these days, to pick up and play an Animal Crossing game, but I'm much more likely to become interested should an opportunity arise with a friend or family member.

Ironically, no. Since my absence from NN, I've lost contact with a few members. I still keep in contact with a few, but I haven't seen sabby and count in quite some time.

We should all meet up some day and play games. :)
