IGBY 1 rules- Adjudication – we all know or know of each other generally speaking so there should be no need for this. Players are encouraged to save their INPs for all game play. Disputes (if any) will be handled on a case by case basis and reviewed by all sites.

I still believe we should go with an honor system or maybe require screenshots. What are you thoughts

Depends if kernzy is allowed to play
It all turned to shit last year with honor system

Should be required to send INPs to the website. Doesn't necessarily mean we have to adjudicate everything, but can look if we need to.

I agree with this.

Unfortunately, honorable behaviour can't be expected from everyone... the shenanigans during IGBY I and the Yolympics demonstrate that :(

We have to require something, even if we don't check it. I think all of us also know Danman, know he's a good gamer, and know he probably wouldn't cheat. However, he couldn't produce proof of only a few of his scores last tournament. I feel like if we require at least something each time, it's a lot easier to deal with those kinds of questions later on. Making it optional just leaves too much to question. We should probably also grab Barthax's inp batch file so we can do the quick, automated checks when needed.

Speaking from an Aussie Arcade team stand point, we will not get the players if INP's are required.

I have no issue with INP because I play everything on a laptop or can play on the RU website in which case my the INP is recorded.

However, the greater number of our members have dedicated MAME cabinets that they play on, these are generally running front ends and not WolfMAME, most would probably not be easily connected to the Interwebs - so recording and submitting INP's can be a right pain in the arse.

Judging by our MGL competitions, most guys must have them connected to the internet, because they can get F12 screen shots - but as for easily recording INPs - I don't think so.

There is always the chance someone will cheat, but those that have been caught have felt the full force of the community - I wouldn't want to be an outcast just for the sake of winning an IGBY tournament.

My opinion is the same as usual for this kind of thing: make your best effort. Those with dedicated Mame cabinets may not be able to easily get inps, especially for every, single score. However, I believe everybody should be able to at least take a picture of a screen on a phone or digital camera. Like MrBnJ said, there are a lot of options as far as RU, streaming, inps, recordings, screenshots, and good old-fashioned pictures. The honor system is still the general rule, but you also do what you can where you can to make your scores verifiable. A large part of our team will be in the same boat here since we will try to play as many games as possible on actual arcade cabinets because a lot of us have regular access to them. I will review dips and stuff with Doc and other arcade owners, and we will do our best, but sometimes sh** happens. Batteries die, memory cards fill up, scores aren't caught right away because someone is trying to unlock their phone and snap the pic before it disappears, etc. Fred and I lost two Toobin' runs last night after opening up the cabinet and showing the settings for TG due to a full memory card and a camera freezing like a computer. So, all we are left with from our run is some photos and two people who witnessed parts of the game. Good enough for Aurcade, good enough for this tournament, but not enough for TG. If somebody claims they can't even take a picture or something, we will just have to figure out how best to deal with that. I feel like being inclusive is more important than being too heavy on the red tape, but at the same time, we all have to commit to the possibility of throwing out scores that can't be proven at all if called into question. We should probably also set a statute of limitations on challenging scores so we don't end up at the end wondering who actually won, at least for more than a day or two. We can leave the challenge option open until the day after it ends or something, then announce the 100% verified results after that time has passed.

I think it's a good idea to require screenshots, no so much to weed out the cheaters, as it's pretty easy to alter images, but more for catching mistakes. With a screenshot you can instantly tell if it's the correct game and score and sometimes even ROMset or dip settings.
It's easy to accidently put an extra zero on a score or submit for the wrong game and not realise it, but with a screenshot the other players can skim through the screenshots at their leisure and pick out anything that looks off.

Have had a good thought about this

Mostly agree with what everyone said. Mr BnJ especially; we don't want to turn people away with too many rules and restrictions. In the end its about having fun and we want as many people to participate as possible. If there are a few bad eggs then so be it (I'm positive 99.999% of us are alright)

Screenshot is the way to go I think. People should still be encouraged to stream and/or save INPs.

plus this is suppose to be fun not very strict

Team Penis concurs. Make your best effort, screenshots or photos at a minimum. Does everybody think that's doable?

No issue with screenshots - in fact last IGBY all the guys from AA (apart from probably me who played most games on RU) posted screenshots of their games in an IGBY thread on our website. Screenshots and honesty have worked for all our tournaments, some 24 of them now, we have only had a couple of guys cheat and that is going back years, long before I was involved.
