Need Video Card

My machine runs an Intel(R) G33/G31 video card. I also only have a 300 watt power supply. Upgrading the power supply is not an option. Any suggestion would help.

Why's that?

Problem is you aren't going to able to get anything good without a better PSU. I wouldn't run a video card on a crap 300 watt psu.

I assume this either a mini tower or brand name where a bigger psu won't fit. Buy a new case.

I am not trying to play Crysis or Assasin's Creed. I'm trying to get something that will play Oblivion. I'm not trying to get the best. Just something workable.

My PSU is 375W max.

The CPU is a Core 2 Duo, 65W.
The GPU is a Nvidia Geforce GT 640, 65W.

No problems here.

Oblivion is pretty old, probably any nvidia card series that is less than the "40" line will suffice.

The 640 isn't bad.

Need more info, What type of expansion slots do you have? AGP, PCIe, or PCI(if it's old)

If you have a slim tower you will need a slim card too otherwise a normal one likely will not fit.

Basically, any new GPU that is out now doesn't support anything lower than 300w and any gpu out now will run oblivion. For a while i ran a 500w card on a 500w max psu and it worked just fine, so, who knows

Would be fine. You're looking at about 60-120 watts (idle/load). Also, Assuming it a) fits in your case and b) you have a decent psu to provide it clean power. Not that a shit psu wouldn't feed it. I have seen too many shit psu's crap out on decent cards. ymmv

That card with your psu will probably give you a blue screen of death in the middle of a game.

If upgrading the power supply isn't an option then I think this is a complete list of all your options.

If it was me I'd put them all in a spread sheet.
Look up the rank for each one here PassMark Software - Video Card (GPU) Benchmark Charts - Video Card Model List (http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php)
Then look up the price for each one at ebay.
And pick the cheapest one with a high rank.

A minimum 350 watt PSU is recommended for AMD R7 240.
All the cards I listed recommend 300 watt min.
There isn't anything for less than 300 watts.

The AMD R7 240 might run but you are going to be cutting it real close. If you can try it for free, I would. But I wouldn't buy it because the odds aren't great.

Well, I got me a 600w psu put into my machine for less than a $100. Its a Sentey BXP600. Any suggestion on getting a video card for under a $100?
