I honestly don't get why devs still bother with MMOs but if you're gonna do it you might as well use a big name like DQ.

Squenix ended up doing pretty well with their latest Final Fantasy MMO. Must have assumed they could take what they learned from those two and put it to use for their Dragon Quest series.

I wouldn't say pretty well since they had to eat millions and redo the whole thing. It seems to be doing well now but that initial failure is hard to ignore.

Yeah the initial launch was a bust but they changed dev teams and somehow turned it into a success.

Final Fantasy fans are pretty loyal. People are still religiously playing FF11 for some reason.

Dragon Quest should never be an MMO. SquareEnix should use the Final Fantasy license for experimental RPG engines, MMOs, or whatever else, and leave the Dragon Quest games as traditional Eastern RPGs.
