How did you find Retrouprising?

I'm always curious about how people end up on the websites I frequent. I'm not asking for personal details or anything just where you first saw this site and/or what made you look for it.

I'll go first. I have been a member of http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/ for about 4-5 years now. I found a link to EveryVideoGame.com in there from some random person on a random topic. Then under similar circumstances I found this site from there. Once I got to know this site and it's members I never went back.

I'm sure I've said this before somewhere, but I don't mind saying it again:

I'm also an EVG refugee. I found EVG by it being on a local radio station's website. Played around for a while over there, then some guy over there mentioned something about a site called onVGP (I believe his name was Tenser Hunter, or something, I can't be too sure ;)). I went to onVGP and stayed there for a while. Then the admin over there decided to overhaul the whole thing and change the name or something...it's kinda vague on what happened exactly. I may have had something to do with that whole change over thing, like I said, it's kinda vague.;)

But fast forward to now, I'll be "celebrating" my second year on RU in August (easy to remember, I signed up close to my second daughter's birth), and there are others that have been here longer. Made dozens of friends during my stay, it's a blast!

Oh I forgot to mention why I thought of this idea. I was bored and decided to look at my old posts. I saw my intro and a few other noob posts I made. One of the first things I asked about was EVG and RU. Then I saw Sabbys post about how this site started and it got me thinking. So here we are.

Also my 1 year anniversery at RU pasted like 13 days ago. Wish I noticed it so I could've made a big deal about it and regretted it later. :-[

Like many others, I came from EVG. I think I was doing a google search for tecmo bowl and found it there. Then I read a thread made about a new game site called onVGP that would launch around christmas time. Anyone else remember the timer that was there before the site launched? I went to onvgp a lot before I finally registered in august '06. I can't believe its been almost 2 years!

well first i found evg by my friend Kurkaka. i played Double Dragon there disappointed there was no mario or Sonic. So at the time i was still in my akatsuki clan in Naruto-Arena and i made a topic about game websites, and Kurkaka posts their about RU, and i was so excited since it actually had Sonic, Mario, Double Dragon, you name it. I;m glad i found RU, now i know i actually do rock at games instead of just thinking it :)

Oh jeez. It's been awhile now.

About five years ago I had semi-retired from my gaming guild and was bored out of my mind. Reading through my Newsweek I found about www.del.icio.us which is a bookmark sharing site. On the bookmarking site I found a link to EVG. Kong and Hobbes are the only older members than I am who are still active. After a few months EVG made me a game mod and we hit it off from there. I am the longest running mod though. :P

After awhile I was called out of retirement from my gaming group and had to leave EVG for awhile. Then fate happened. One day after I finished helping my gaming guild out and went back into retirement I got an email from Kong asking me to come help on a new site he made called onVGP. The rest you should know.

Five years Kongger. You deserve a medal for putting up with me for that long. :P

Google- Searched up NES Games and found me here on December 2006. I started to play RU and boy, was I on 24/7 and the bug-finder person :D. Heck i became a Game mod soon enough in 2007 March and was in the team DDQ. Participated in most contests and was considered a well known member:D. Ahoho! I found a game called "Stick Online". It was very addicting!, but i still went on RU until the big change of RU happened. I forgot RU since :(. If i remember , the change happened near the summer and I had got taken in by the world of online games (MMO). Used to do frequent visits when i remember it and when i make a "am back" topic, i just leave again *poof*. Then some time later in April, i saw new teams had been produced! Decided to stay and actually remembered to save this site to the bookmarks. Am surprised i still have my scores which i never intended to keep.
Most events that I remember in:
1) Woot Moai-Kun finished finally >.>
2) Boy Sabby, good contest in the trophies for awhile
3) Abadox + Addams Family = Me in DDQ
4) Curveball war! Now i can never get that score :(
5) Who remembred alic1994? The infraction abuser which was my friend. Noone? :P
6) Hmm i took the puck from Sabby :D.
7) Hobbes, have a good time at Bayou Billy? :P
8) After helping out much, GM status. (Youngest GM ((not a forum/site mod)) on RU? o.o)

Save states should be working properly. For the NES make sure you are signed in when you save and load your game. You also must be in "Full" version and not "score" or "lite".

I think you skipped the second and seventh step below.

The Game Boy games only offer Save RAM (also called Battery Saves). I think you are confusing it with save states which is what most modern games and the other systems here use.

Save RAM does not save the exact spot in the game but just the general info up to that point in the game. Your name, experience, town, equipment etc.

The other systems on Retro Uprising use Save States.

To save Game Boy games you must

First - Register and login.

Second - save the game the same as you would on a real Game Boy. Some Game Boy games require you go to an inn or church or some other special save location and press start. In Cobi's Journey you have to Press X on the keyboard to bring the menu up. Select "Plan" from the menu. Then select "Journal". Save your journey. You can only do this in certain places in the game.

Third - double click the game and click save.

Fourth - a window will pop up asking for you to confirm the save. If you already have a save for that game then it will be overwritten. Click yes.

Fifth - To load the save double click and click load.

sixth - a pop up window will ask if you are sure. Click yes. The game will restart with your save loaded.

seventh - you will need to load the save the same as you would on an original Game Boy. This is often done on the first game menu by selecting continue or load.




but if you find one that does not work report what game you were playing and as much info as possible and it would be fixed.

I was desperate to find nes games online 2 or 3 years after our nes got thrown out, and was googleing all sorts of stuff like free nes and nes games free then I brought nes games we still had upstairs and googled some of the games and then I googled Smash T.V. and EVG came up so I played as a guest for two months then made and account to try to get help with a lost game, then eventually ended up taking part in the forums, after that I left, somehow forgetting about the site again, I was gone for 2 years or so then I was doing some research on dreamcast and found things on a new system, somehow I ended up finding a top 10 easiest bosses video on youtube, and wanted others opinions, so I remembered EVG and went back and created a top 5 hardest bosses ever on a new acount called Cam3ron36 losing my old account, I heard a lot of talk about RU and Jim5cents annoyed me so I retreated to ru to escape his jerkish coments, of course I still go to evg.

I just got lucky. but am I ever glad I found it. I was Googling for an Earthbound ROM, nowhere could I find it. I was going through pages, and I saw that the summary underneath retrouprising.com said something about Earthbound Zero and the word "free". Since I was planning on looking for that next, I took the chance and wound up on Earthbound Zero. After playing it a couple days, my file was lost. So I created an account to ask Kong why. He said it was because anyone could delete my file since I was a guest then. So I started playing Earthbound Zero since. Then I bought an Earthbound game. Then Kong helped me get a Mother 3 ROM. So I'm planning on staying. Even if I don't play most of the other games on this site.

So like I said before, it was just a matter of luck, and good timing.

ok its a funny story. i was on the internet watching an angry foren child play super mario bros 3. i noticed he went to retro uprising to play smb3.so then i was like"SUPER MARIO BROS 3 ONLINE!?!" i had to see this so i just followed the steps that angry kid took and found smb3 and whole bunch of other games.And thats how i found it

I was searching for River City Ransom, and Mike Tyson's Punchout and came across Nescafeweb.com. Played at that site for a couple days til I seen some of thier partner sites, This was actually one of the last one's I linked onto. And I am glad i did. it can seem like you dont exist on forums very easily, most people who post on forums are more there to express their incredibly intelligent thoughts, and less there to engage in coversation. you can easily go through an entire 6 page thread where nobody has had a conversation, just 6 pages of insightful opinions piled up, its just the way forums are, so dont be offended if it seems like your being ignored.

You were given a warning, not an infraction there is a difference. Those are given to all members who break the rules posted in the FAQ's a first time (pending on the severity of the rule break). It's more of a record keeping measure just in case you may want to do it again.

In my profile there is a tab that says infraction and it has the info for what my post got flagged for inappropriate language and it has your name.

Yes, but if it was an infraction, there would be points against you (in the corner of that tab where it says points). It is where warnings go as well as infractions. If it was an infraction it would be a red card (along with points against you) instead of a yellow card.

For ArcadeOX you can use the game's built in USB support. Plug your controller in before you start the game. You might have to configure it which is different for each system but usually involves pressing Tab or clicking options.

Saying that, if Louis Farrakhan signed up, he would be banned shortly after for his very opinionated view.
