Online Fighting Games Thread

I enjoy fighting games a lot, and I was thinking it would be cool to set up matches and lobbies and all that fun stuff with people on here

so I guess this thread has three purposes

1.) for people to communicate what fighting games they own and for which consoles, as well as to trade PSN/XBL

2.) to find out times to set up lobbies or even one on one matches

3.) to discuss these games in general, online matches, character strategies and so forth.

for example, I only have a PS3, and on which I play the following fighters: Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core+R, BlazBlue Chronophantasma and Continuum Shift Extend, Street Fighter III, JJBA HD, and King of Fighters XIII, though I hear the netcode on that one is pretty awful and I only got it very recently. I have a few of the other older Capcom ones that got released with online, but I don't play those as much (I've actually gotten so much worse at Street Fighter II over the years it's incredible) and my PSN is oldsepholdstar if anyone is interested

I have no fighting games on steam though and I doubt my computer could run any of them at 60fps though

There's lower end fighting games on Steam that you should be able to run. I'm just giving you options though I honestly have no fun with fighting games anymore so I stopped following them. I don't like juggle combo simulators.

Thanks for the heads up! I also know there are some emulators that have netplay for older arcade games, like Garou and all of that.

I should figure that stuff out and also set up xpadder or whatever so I can use my PS3 controller

I've got SFIII Third Strike on the 360, but I don't have Xbox Live Gold so I can't play against you. Since I've got no online on it I'm probably no good against human opponents.

When Super Smash Bros. rolls around I'll pick that up for sure.
Maybe I'll get Skullgirls for PC too.

I will be much more inclined to get them if I know people here have it and are willing to play.

Anyways right now I'm still big into Skullgirls on PC but it looks like my controller finally bit the dust so I can't play so well anymore. Hopefully they start making wired Xbox One controllers because those things are heaven to the hands.

While not exactly fighting, this game looks like fun to me and I'd be interested in playing with some of you RU guys. It costs 15 dollars. I don't have it yet but it looks like fun to play with friends.

Just play on GGPO (GGPO.net - Home - Lag Free, Online Arcade Gaming Goodness (http://ggpo.net)) or Supercade (Supercade (http://www.damdai.com/supercade)). Basically every good fighting game is on one of these two (besides CvS2 and Marvel 2).

Im not too into fighting games myself because I was never very good when it came to combo moves, where you would need like a certain movement of a d-pad or control stick, then a combination of buttons. But one I DO really like was Persona 4 Arena. I got into golden, and found out about arena, and I find myself going back and playing it every once in a while. I tone down the difficulty for myself a little bit, but I still love playing it here and there.

If you're not good at combos, try playing Super Street Fighter II Turbo. You don't really need many if at all, and it's one of the best fighting games of all time.

I have Persona 4 Arena, too! it's really fun, and I love how it's pretty accessible for people who aren't all that great at fighting games.

I set up a get together with a friend yesterday to spend a day at the Arcade UFO (http://arcadeufo.com/) in Austin. Spent six hours marathoning the 3rd Strike cabinet. It was the most fun times I've had in a while.

I managed this with a bunch of people rotating in on the loser side. Felt so good.

A good place to go for online fighting games, especially if you like older Capcom and Neo-Geo games, is Supercade (http://www.damdai.com/Supercade/).
