There are thought - controlled devices now IRL.

Speculation on future games includes total - immersion via 'Happy Helmet' making the player feel as though really inside the game, shown in an episode of Red Dwarf.

Existenz takes it one step further, suggesting an 'Industry - standard Bio - Port' - literally a cord plugged directly into a socket players have installed their spine allowing total immersion within one's own mind - multiplayer compatible.
